DLRC will feature one of the most complete and highest-graded Barber coin collections ever assembled — the Chugum Collection — in a series of three upcoming Red Carpet Rarity Auctions at at www.dlrccoins.com.

Ranked as the #3 All-Time Finest PCGS Registry Set of Barber Coinage with Major Varieties, it trails only the legendary collections of D.L. Hansen and Louis Eliasberg.
"Meticulously assembled with an emphasis on quality and eye appeal, the Chugum Collection has been off the market for over a decade and is as fresh as they come," DLRC noted.
Most coins grade MS63, with several MS62 and MS64 examples. The coins will be offered across three consecutive DLRC auctions: Barber dimes on Nov. 6, Barber quarters on Nov. 13, and Barber half dollars on Nov. 20.

Highlights include several key-date issues, such as the 1894-O, 1895-O, and 1896-O dimes, each graded MS63 by PCGS and approved by CAC, as well as an 1892-O Micro O half dollar and a 1901-S quarter, both PCGS MS63. The group also includes an 1896-S quarter and a 1904-S half, both in MS63, representing two sought-after issues from their respective series.

Other highlights include:
- 1905-O 10C PCGS MS63 (Micro O)
- 1909-O 25C PCGS MS63
- 1913-S 25C PCGS/CAC MS64
- 1896-O 50C PCGS MS63
- 1901-S 50C PCGS MS63
John Call, DLRC Numismatist and Buyer, described the collection as "powerful and fresh," noting that acquiring it was a highlight of this year’s ANA World’s Fair of Money.
"Many of these coins have not been offered at these grade levels in years and are sure to please," Call said. "These auctions are perfect for the Barber collector looking to upgrade their set."
DLRC President John Brush called the collection a natural fit for the firm’s Red Carpet Rarity Auctions.
"It was too big and too exciting to keep to one auction, so we have broken it up by denomination into three stand-alone auction events," Brush explained. "The quality of this group is outstanding and it is quite impressive to see them all together."
The Chugum Collection is available for viewing by appointment at DLRC’s Virginia Beach office. Those interested can contact the firm by email at coins@davidlawrence.com or by phone at 800-776-0560.
Bidding is open now at www.dlrccoins.com. DLRC is also accepting consignments for future Red Carpet Rarity and Sunday Auctions.

BAM…
I just did a Gold exchange with a VP of a financial firm.
Traded 2 sets of the 2021 2×1/10 oz. designer Gold coins for 1 Batman Gold.
I purchased each set for $645.00, resulting in a combined cost basis of $1,290.00 for both sets.
Anyone still checking local coin shops or eBay for Gold values should broaden their perspective…
Cag: yep…..broadening my perspective, looking at facebook market and similar venues…..most trades I am able to find want my gold for their silver, firearms, tractor, etc….
Well, he ain’t no wizard IMHO, You got him Cag, slabbed 70 sets of both the ‘21s are still on eBay for <$1k BIN. Those sets are currently just over bullion. So you got a half z for 2/10ths….
As I have said many x, rising Au prices absoarbed collector non intrinsic values. Batman likely better long term than topless Superdude.
Ag holding for now, are we in a new world?
Too funny John Q, I wonder if others saw it similarly? Will the Real “Slim Shady” Please Stand Up?
John Q. I do note Cag said he traded Two of the 2021 designer sets, which is 2 coins in each set, total four 1/10 oz coins, or 4/10 total weight. I have not seen any sets in OGP for less than $880 per set…and I have not seen the graded set, two coins for less than $1k of late….still Cag made out well…..
HarryB, Pinehurst has the NGC Early Releases Designer Set PR70 UC for $975 CC or $946.50, e-check or wire. John Q, something I missed earlier was, the sets Cag exchanged, unless still sealed in original Mint shipping box, aren’t even eligible to be graded as having been a part of the 2021 Designer Sets. Currently, U.S. Mint Gold coins are looking at another(2nd week in a row) 3 tier jump in price tomorrow! Current weekly Avg. is $4,058.66 and just needs to average $4,015.33 tomorrow. Current tier in use is $3,900.00-$3,949.99 and looking at moving to $4,050.00-$4,099.99. A few coin… Read more »
I hope that VP of that financial firm, either doesn’t care about his own money, is not very smart, or doesn’t find out, he just got taken for $1,000 more than he should have Cag? The Batman 1/2oz Gold coin on day of release, as you know, sold for $2,990. One can pick up 2021 AGE “Designer Sets” PR70 from the secondary market for $975-$995 each. So great job on capitalizing or taking advantage of someone who doesn’t care about their money or is clueless apparently about the current actual market or secondary market value of what they are trading?… Read more »
Cali, I think you’re accurate, any 10th z AGE is worth $400 +/- I suspect. Maybe we missed something?? Ty. 2 has a larger premium to buy at present, LCS pays the same Ty 1 or 2 AGE. And we did also miss that Batman is MIA presently, due birth arrival EST. January 2026…. bullion gonna do better than any DC items, all, will fall to bullion type items, Green Lantern, likely, the DC low mintage wonder which has evaporated mostly with $4k Au. E.g. Jackie $5 Bu, Unc. Capital Visitor center, etc. With the present price levels tuff to find… Read more »
With the evaporation of the Warner deal, the USM will evaporate the comic club after the Big 3, then to the moon.., and I’ll be able to trade my Super Hotlegs for a half block of NVDA…. 😉
Unless AUburn steps down 5% or more tomorrow, it’s three steps up..,
Though that would only be my ASSumptions..,
The color on the 01s half looks a,tad funky….
GLD just Closed at Another All Time Closing High.
For the 45th time this Year
GLD closed at $380.79 (24×5 trading may cause price variation).
Doggone golly gee! You said that 1/10 oz ‘26 Wing Headed Liberty will sell (dynamically) for $700 (or $350 per wing).., I’ll take the over on that, and throw down on $750 for that there Merc! Yup, in 4-5 months, $750 it be!
KC&SO: the spot Au market is “dynamically” moving…. We will lucky if the 250th Winged Head Liberty is only $750….with companion silver medal and packaging, I am planning on $1100 for my one per household…..I really hope for mint to demand….while I am “hoping”…
Dang it, Harry! You ruined my script! ;7
Like a bad dream, I keep trying to forget about that ‘companion medal’ – like a bad companion, it’ll end in a bad divorce!
Though you are right, Sir, …& we will be lucky if…
………………….
I so so hope we get those Frac Buff’s, I know what will be dropped like a hot potato, no room on the plate for filler, when it’s covered in juicy protein..,
I have not been hugely into the Barber coin series. I think my only coins are a few from the Whitman 20th Century type set folder. I may have the three worst examples of Barber coinage. It was what a teenager or a pre-teen could afford.
Same here. I believe I have a 1916-S with only 3 letters of Liberty visible (VG). I think I was 16 or 17 when I bought it and only wanted it as a Barber example for my folder, which I’ve since liquidated save for the Barber Dime.
@Antonio I like the type set folder so much I broke the binding from opening and closing it so much. I taped it back together. I still have it.
The navy privy ASE arrived today and the mirrors are spectacular on this coin. I can’t believe how quick they were shipped, especially with the cheap (free) shipping. I also need to call the mint about being charged when I should be getting free shipping.
Sharks2th, not sure you saw my previous post, however if you missed it and for other readers that may also be being charged for shipping, when they qualify for the Loyalty Program and free shipping, I’ll repost. For any that technically qualify and haven’t been receiving free shipping, as a U.S. Mint Loyalty Program member. You, need to make sure to have completed the following: “When you make three or more purchases, you’ll enjoy free shipping on all future orders placed within the same year and shipped anywhere in the U.S. AND “To join the Loyalty Program, you need to… Read more »
Thanks Cali. I’ve gotten it in the past and if they add little details they need to make sure they day they’ve changed the process. I hate dealing with them, but the customer service people usually try to help.

Stupid autocorrect…
I added the LESPS to my existing subscription. I wait for the proof Morgan and Peace Dollar set, which I’d already subscribed to since 2023.
I’m still bummed the Mint didn’t produce the proof Morgan and Peace Dollars in 2022. Oh well.
I got mine as well with the free shipping. It’s nice. I’m looking forward to completing the trilogy next month with the Marine Privy Eagle.
U.S Mint Gold coins will go up in price today(10/15/25) by 3 more tiers on the pricing range table, unless the PM fix happens to drop to $3,973.49 or lower. With daily spot gold currently at $4,208.10, at 10:22am ET, 8 minutes before LBMA close, I have a hard time fathoming that the PM fix would drop to that amount. Out of the last 12 AM/PM LBMA fixes, the last time we were at or below $3973.50, was for the AM fix on 10/7, which happened to be $3,962.30. The LBMA AM fix today was $4,057.15. There will now have… Read more »
-Almost makes it worth my keeping the mediocre ALG sunflower I received yesterday (bought last week when a few came back in hand). Had some spotting above the “Y” on liberty…darn. So, you’ll see one in stock next week probably.
