Last week, with no new products released by the U.S. Mint, there were no significant weekly increases observed in its latest product sales data.
The data did show a focus among collectors on purchasing proof products, as 10 out of the Mint’s top 11 weekly sellers were either proof coins or proof sets. Moreover, more than half of these items were struck in silver.

In its latest report, the U.S. Mint published sales data for 442 numismatic products. The data revealed that 78 products outperformed their sales from the previous week, compared to 68 in the prior report. Two products experienced a week-over-week increase of more than 1,000 units, the same as the previous report.
In addition, there were 2 products that recorded negative weekly sales, compared to 4 in the previous report. These reductions were 4 and 23, for the 2024-W Liberty & Britannia Gold Coin and 2024-P Liberty & Britannia Silver Medal, respectively.

Smart Man. It won’t be as fun next year. Everything is way up $$..Almost out of control really. Our first house, not far from us was a great starter home. A small 950 sq ft 2 brm ranch & bmt. In 1993 it was $84k. We moved & sold in 2001 at $190k. The other day it was listed at 560k when my wife & daughter(26-a young teacher)went looking around for her 1st starter home–WOW…Young folks are in a pinch these days..I can’t blame the Mint(too much)for price adjusting & keeping up with our troubled “Dollar”….https://www.usdebtclock.org/
You can pick them up for $2800-2900 elsewhere, if you like the design. It’s not my ‘cup of tea’ but it is gold. As a gold coin collector, all of my collection has appreciated nicely over the years. With our ND in overdrive to 36T and beyond, $3000/oz for gold doesn’t sound extreme.
Mike, Rick, REB, Craig and others, I have a few modern Mint gold coins and there’s nothing like gold for eye appeal. Can you tell me what the process is like to sell them? Is the price based on numismatics (year, grade, mintage, etc.) or determined primarily by spot? If it’s numismatics, what percent of market value will the dealer impose? 60% of value? I imagine any dealer sale comes with a tax document and is reported- so is there a way to avoid a cap gain hit? Does a trade avoid this?
A loaded question, and I’m not an expert as a disclaimer. The dealers/flippers/experts may chime in hopefully..There are a lot of ‘it depends’ factors. I would say that the process of selling is straightforward. Research what it’s worth, choose to have it certified, or leave it raw. That sometimes can make a substantial difference. Gold coins buy/sell usually w a spread of a few % points. Collector coins check Greysheet values for a starter & there used to be a spread now it says a price w provisional info as to what dealers want or pay as % used to be 10% back & 10% for sale 20% spread, they’ve enlarged since Covid….

Modern Gold coin prices can also vary significantly up or down depending on popularity & Mintages, leaving spot as secondary. The ’17 Lib vs the ’21 Lib is a good example.

All four Alabama AI$ products still available again today. This is especially dubious for the 100-coin Bag (P) which had reported sales of 3,146 on April 21 and a product limit of 3,150. Hundreds were available Saturday morning the 29th and then to remind me , Hundreds of each available 4-23 and then remind me later that day on all. Hundreds available again 4-24 and remind me on 2 items by 4-26, What a game the mint plays.
