Prices for gold, silver, and platinum increased again on Tuesday, marking third second consecutive gains, while palladium rebounded strongly from its loss on Monday.
Gaining for a third consecutive session following nine straight losses, gold for December delivery rose by $11, or 0.6%, to settle at $1,875.30 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
"Gold prices are higher and near the daily high in midday U.S. trading Tuesday, on modest safe-haven buying as the Israel-Hamas war continues to unfold with very uncertain consequences," Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note.
Gold futures traded between $1,866.10 and $1,879.10. They gained 1% on Monday.
Silver for December delivery edged up by 2.9 cents, or 0.1%, ending at $21.953 an ounce. During the day, silver prices ranged from $21.77 and $22.11, after advancing by 0.9% on Monday.

January platinum moved up by $1.40, or 0.2%, to $890.20 an ounce, trading between $885.50 and $899.30.
- Palladium for December delivery increased by $39.50, or 3.5%, to $1,171.40 an ounce, ranging from $1,121.50 to $1,182.50.
