Prices for precious metals changed little on Tuesday, despite experiencing a rise across the board. Among the group, gold emerged as the best performer, advancing by 0.4%.
More specifically, gold for August delivery rose by $7.20 to settle at $1,981.50 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
“Technically, August gold futures bulls have the overall near-term technical advantage. Bulls’ next upside price objective is to produce a close above solid resistance at $2,000.00. Bears’ next near-term downside price objective is pushing futures prices below solid technical support at the May low of $1,949.60," Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note.
Gold futures traded between $1,970.30 and $1,982.90, after climbing by 0.2% on Monday.
Meanwhile, silver for July delivery inched up by 3.5 cents, or nearly 0.2%, to close at $23.67 an ounce. Silver futures ranged from $23.41 to $23.87, after falling by 0.5% on Monday.
