3

Precious metals registered gains on Wednesday that ranged from 0.2% for palladium to 2.6% for silver. Gold’s advance was its second straight.

Gold for February delivery climbed $15.60, or 0.9%, to settle at $1,798 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.

"Gold and silver prices are higher in midday U.S. trading Wednesday, boosted by declines in the U.S. dollar index and in U.S. Treasury yields on this today. The overall near-term technical postures for gold and silver remain bullish, which is also inviting the chart-based traders to the long sides of these markets,” Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note.

Gold futures traded between $1,780.50 and $1,803.20. They rose 0.06% on Tuesday and they fell 1.6% on Monday.

Silver for March delivery jumped 58.7 cents to settle at $22.922 an ounce. Silver futures ranged from $22.25 and $23.01. They shed 0.4% on Tuesday and they dropped 3.6% on Monday.
