Precious metal prices increased on Tuesday with advances ranging from 0.3% for gold to 2% for platinum. Silver and palladium marked their third straight sessions gains.
Gold for June delivery tacked on $4.90 to settle at $1,818.90 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
"The metals [gold and silver] were supported by rising crude oil prices that hit a nine-week high earlier today, and sharp daily losses in the U.S. dollar index," Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note.”
Gold futures traded between $1,815.90 and $1,834.80. They also edged 0.3% higher on Monday.
Silver for July delivery rose 19.9 cents, or 0.9%, to close at $21.75 an ounce. Silver futures ranged from $21.56 to $21.93. They surged 2.6% on Monday.

July platinum added $18.10 to $943.40 an ounce, trading between $923.20 and $950.10.
- Palladium for June delivery gained $29.60, or 1.5%, to $2,032.20 an ounce, ranging from $1,965 to $2,069.50.
