Silver, platinum and palladium prices rose slightly Wednesday. Gold closed nearly unchanged, falling just 0.01%.
Gold for August delivery gave back a dime to settle at $1,799.70 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
"Technically, gold futures bulls and bears are on a level overall near-term technical playing field. Bulls’ next upside price objective is to produce a close above solid resistance at the July high of $1,835.00. Bears’ next near-term downside price objective is pushing futures prices below solid technical support at $1,775.00
," Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note.
Gold futures ranged from a low of $1,790.70 to a high of $1,807.60. They edged up 0.03% on Tuesday and they dipped 0.1% on Monday, marking their lowest settlement since July 6.
Silver for September delivery gained 22.8 cents, or 0.9%, to settle at $24.877 an ounce. Silver futures traded between $24.65 and $24.96. They dropped 2.6% on Tuesday and they rose 0.3% on Monday.
In PGM futures on Wednesday:
October platinum added $8.60, or 0.8%, to $1,058.10 an ounce, ranging from $1,044.60 to $1,063.
- Palladium for September delivery added $15.90, or 0.6%, to $2,622.60 an ounce, trading between $2,583 and $2,634.50.
