Star Trek The Next Generation Coins Launch

The Perth Mint of Australia just released two silver coins in collector proof quality that feature Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the U.S.S. Enterprise, the commander and his ship from the popular television show Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Sold individually and in a set are two 99.9% pure silver Star Trek coins. One bears an image of Sir Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the other showcases the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D.

Officially licensed and specially packaged, the coins are limited to 5,000 each. The two-coin set is restricted to 1,500. A similar set with coins emblematic of the original Star Trek series debuted in February and sold out within hours of its release. Individual options sold out as well.

Silver Coin Designs and Specifications

The Captain Jean-Luc Picard coin depicts the captain in color against a Star Trek insignia. To the left, a representation of the U.S.S. Enterprise appears. Inscriptions include CAPTAIN JEAN-LUC PICARD, 1 OZ 999 SILVER and TM & © 2014 CBS. ARR.

The starship is featured on the second coin all on its own with a more detailed likeness. Behind the ship, a colored image of space and planets is offered. Inscriptions include STAR TREK™, THE NEXT GENERATION, U.S.S. ENTERPRISE NCC-1701-D, 1 OZ 999 SILVER and TM & © 2014 CBS. ARR.
