Today at noon Eastern Time, July 7, 2011, the United States Mint released the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential $1 Coin & Julia Grant First Spouse Medal Set for $14.95.

The set features collector versions of the uncirculated Ulysses S. Grant Presidential $1 Coin and Julia Grant’s bronze medal, which bears the same designs as her First Spouse Gold Coins.
The coin and medal are mounted on the front of a durable plastic card next to portraits of the President and First Lady. The back of the card includes the Mint’s issuance information.
Ulysses S. Grant Presidential $1 Coins entered circulation on May 19, 2011. The United States Mint and the National Park Service hosted a launch ceremony the same day at the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site in St. Louis, Missouri. More recently, the Julia Grant Bronze Medal was made available on June 23, 2011.
Grant’s Set is the second of four that are scheduled this year. The United States Mint already released the Johnson Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set on May 10, 2011. The next issue will honor Rutherford B. Hayes and wife Lucy. It is scheduled to debut on September 22, 2011. The last set for the year will honor James and Lucretia Garfield and will debut on December 22, 2011.
Each of the 2010 sets — Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanan and Lincoln — are still available from the Mint for a price of $11.95. The latest United States Mint sales figures for those and the previously issued 2011 Johnson set are below:
