The Royal Australian Mint Showcases Glamour for 2008

A few Royal Australian Mint Offerings for 2008Last month the Royal Australian Mint had an evening gala where they introduced their 2008 theme and series of coins.

The gala was likely a blast, the theme – the International Year of Planet Earth (IYPE) – a bit of a mouthful, and the coins, well… they were undoubtedly the talk of the party.

The uniquely interesting Kangaroo at Sunset coin had to be, no question, the party prize-winner. It’s simple, clean and just stands out.

Royal Australian Mint CEO, Janine Murphy, said in a release about the coin:

“The 2007 release of this product sold out within four days, and it is expected that the 2008 coin will follow suit. It is one of the most striking designs that the Royal Australian Mint has produced, and one of my personal favourites”

Given its fresh design, it would have been shocking had it not sold out. (Only 1,000 were minted and they didn’t last long.)

Other coins introduced for 2008 were the Kangaroo, Centenary of Rugby League, and the Baby and Wedding Set coin products. All are listed on the Mint’s online shopping page. Here’s a short listing:
