Krause Publications Presents World Mints with 2008 Coin of the Year Award

World Coin News editor Dave Harper (left) serves as master of ceremonies.Canada’s destiny was in the stars as it won the 2008 Coin of the Year Award sponsored by World Coin News, a monthly periodical dedicated to collectors of world coins.

A four-piece set of $50 palladium coins showing the Big Bear and Little Bear constellations in changing seasonal positions was voted the winner in the second round of balloting by an international panel of judges. They are KM-672-675 in the Standard Catalog of World Coins identification system.

Gold Nears Three-Decade Peak; U.S. Mint Gold Suspensions Continue

Gold prices continue to rise and the US Mint continues its American Eagle Gold Coin suspension.Gold is continuing through its extended gains and hit a spot price of $746.30 an ounce early Monday morning. That’s the highest level seen since January 1980.

Will increasing gold prices continue to forestall the resumption of U.S. Mint gold coin sales? To date, it appears that way.

On September 13th, the United States Mint suspended the sale of all their 2007 American Eagle Gold Uncirculated Coins.
