All 2008-W American Eagle Gold Coins Sold Out

2008-W American Eagle Gold Uncirculated coinWednesday marked the conclusion of 2008-W American Eagle Gold coin sales from the US Mint. The last uncirculated 1/2 ounce version sold out in the morning, and just before gold coin prices increased.

The Mint decided last year that the half-ounce collector coin will not be minted again so it could shift its focus to, among other things, delivering annual collectible coins earlier in the year.

The most recent American Eagle sales figures are available on the CoinNews Mint Price Guide page. The final figures should be reported next week.

The Mint nor its product schedule has provided a clue as to when the 2009 series of numismatic bullion coins — outside the 2009 UHR $20 Double Eagle — will be offered. Availability questions are now likely to pick up.

First Spouse Coins now stand as the only available 2008-dated gold coins from the Mint.
