ANA Resolves Litigation with Nebel, Former Employees

ANAThe pending litigation between the American Numismatic Association and John Nebel and former employees Susie Nulty, Lawrence Lee, Ph. D. and Wayne Abraham has been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties, Executive Director Larry Shepherd announced today.

The resolution followed several meetings between the ANA and John Nebel in which the ANA agreed to dismiss all claims against Nebel, Nulty, Lee and Abraham.

Mary MacKillop, First Australian Saint Commemorated on Coin

Senator the Hon Nick Sherry, Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law, today launched the first coin in the Inspirational Australians’ coin series which features the Australian people’s saint, Blessed Mary MacKillop.

Gold and Platinum Slumped with Oil, Silver Up Slightly

Bullion update ...

New York gold and platinum dropped Tuesday as the US dollar gained and crude oil fell by more than $5 a barrel to record its largest loss in nearly four months.

Silver pulled slightly up, rising 3 cents to settle at $17.95 an ounce.

Platinum dropped with gold, moving to $1950.40 an ounce and losing $30.90 for the day.

Gold declined $5.50 to $923.30 an ounce, reaching as low as $914 before recovering some of its ground.

2008 Singapore Independence Commemorative Coins

The Singapore Mint launched commemorative coins today celebrating Singapore’s 43 years of independence. $2 silver and cupro-nickel proof versions were released as well as a "2-in-1" set containing each.

According to the Mint’s announcement, the reverse or tails design of the coins bear the National Day Parade (NDP) logo — a symbol for the NDP 2008 Theme, "Celebrating the Singapore Spirit."

It depicts:

 

"… five young Singaporeans, reaching for the stars. This represents the next generation of Singaporeans, full of energy, striving for excellence and confident of a brighter future ahead."

Disabled Vets Commemorative Bill Passed to President

A bill directing the U.S. Mint to issue 350,000 $1 silver commemorative coins in 2010 honoring disabled veterans was officially presented to President Bush yesterday, July 7.

H.R. 634 passed in the House and Senate last month and was cleared for the White House on June 18. With its official move yesterday, no more steps remain for H.R. 634 to become law other than the president’s ink.
