Whitman Brands™ has released the 10th edition of Mega Red: A Guide Book of United States Coins, Deluxe Edition, an expanded reference catalog covering U.S. coinage from colonial issues through modern releases. The book debuted Feb. 3, 2026, continuing the oversized companion series to the annual Official Red Book.
The new edition — branded Mega Red X, — offers updated pricing, expanded research, and broader variety coverage. Among its major additions is a special study of $5 Half Eagle gold coins spanning 1795 through 1929.
John Feigenbaum, president and CEO of Whitman Brands, said the edition reflects collaboration among dozens of contributors and the most current data available anywhere in print. Editor Jeff Garrett added that the book increases pricing depth and specialty coverage, particularly in Half Eagles, varieties, and modern issues.
"This tenth edition represents a true team effort and a major step forward for advanced collectors. We’ve expanded the depth of pricing, strengthened our research, and added important specialty coverage," Garrett said. "Mega Red X is designed not just to inform, but to help collectors make smarter decisions in today’s marketplace."

The catalog includes more than 18,000 listings covering coins, tokens, medals, sets, and related collectibles, along with over 100,000 values in as many as 13 collectible grades powered by Greysheet® pricing data. It also incorporates more than 1,100 auction records and thousands of color images.

Additional updates include cross-references to major attribution systems, expanded treatment of patterns and error coins, and integration of Greysheet Identification (GSID) numbers. The book also previews upcoming U.S. Semiquincentennial coinage and contains new essays and research articles.
