Precious metals changed little on Monday. Palladium declined slightly while gold, silver and platinum posted their third straight gains.
Gold for June delivery added $2.60, or 0.1%, to settle at $1,948.20 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
"Gold and silver prices are posting moderate gains in midday U.S. action Monday, but prices have backed well down from their early-session highs on some profit taking by the shorter-term futures traders, and amid rising bond yields and a sell off in the crude oil market. Gold prices hit a four-week high early on today," Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note. "Still, the metals are seeing some safe-haven demand on worries about inflation becoming even more problematic in the coming months."
Gold futures traded between $1,942.90 and $1,974.60. They gained 1.1% last week.
Silver for May delivery settled up 16.4 cents, or 0.7%, to $24.987 an ounce. Silver futures ranged from $24.79 to $25.60. They rose 0.7% last week.

July platinum edged up $2.20, or 0.2%, to $977.80 an ounce, trading between $973.70 and $997.
- Palladium for June delivery shed $3.30, or 0.1% to $2,416.80 an ounce, ranging from $2,402 and $2,534.
Last week, platinum fell 1.3% and palladium dropped 6.7%.
