Precious metals climbed Thursday, registering increases ranging from 0.5% for platinum to 1.8% for palladium. Gains in gold, platinum and palladium were their first in three sessions. Silver, meanwhile, snapped a four-session losing streak.
Gold for June delivery rose $14.70, or 0.8%, to settle at $1,937.80 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Gold and silver prices were ‘Lifted by bullish outside market forces on this day that include a dip in U.S. Treasury yields and a sell off in U.S. stock indexes. A drop in crypto currencies late this week is also likely benefiting the gold and silver market bulls," Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note.
Gold futures traded between $1,923.30 and $1,941.70. They dipped 0.2% on Wednesday, for their lowest finish since March 29, they shed 0.3% on Tuesday, and they edged 0.5% higher on Monday.
Silver for May delivery tacked on 27.7 cents, or 1.1%, to end at $24.735 an ounce. Silver prices ranged from $24.33 to $24.78. They declined 0.3% on Wednesday, for their lowest settlement since Feb. 28, they lost 0.2% on Tuesday, and they dipped 0.3% on Monday.
