2011 American Silver Eagle Coin

US Mint Weekly sales news was dominated by the performances of the .999 fine American Silver Eagles and the 24-karat First Spouse Gold Coins.

The Silver Eagles this week broke the 9 million year-to-date milestone and rose above 2.6 million for the month. January was the best ever month for the coins and February, while it will not be the top month, it will go down as the best every February for Silver Eagle sales since their launch in 1986.

First Spouse Gold Coins rallied in weekly sales. Their numbers where just shy of doubling their previous weekly pick-up with 759 versus 381. Weekly numbers are generally relatively modest for these gold pieces which honor former first ladies. The 759 increase represents the best number since the first full week following the release of the proof and uncirculated Mary Todd Lincoln First Spouse Gold Coins back in early December.
