US Mint Sales

ATB Hot Springs Coin

America the Beautiful (ATB) 5-ounce Hot Springs uncirculated silver coins remained available through to the end of the week, surprisingly.

Given demand expectations and the subsequent take down of the United States Mint website due to an overload of sales orders soon after the coins’ noon April 29 release, most observers were expecting a quick sell out.

Based on sales figures provided by the United States Mint on Monday, May 2, approximately 25,000 of the available 27,000 ATB 5-ounce Hot Springs silver coins been purchased […]

2011 Proof Gold Eagles

New products dominated the US Mint weekly sales news articles. The debuting sales performances are known for the 2011 Proof Gold Eagles and the first two 2011-dated America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coins. Sales figures for these US Mint products are not weekly, in the sense that they have not been available for that long.

The 2011 Proof Gold Eagles were released on Thursday, April 21, and their debut sales cover through to the following Sunday. In summary, the five Proof Gold Eagle products showed weaker starting sales than last year’s issue (2010), but better than the prior year when they were available (2008) […]

2011 Grand Canyon Quarter Three-Coin Set

Better numbers for silver coins and the debut figures for the Grand Canyon Quarter Three Coin Set were key topics in the most recent round of US Mint weekly sales news.

The sales week, which covers the period of April 10-17, reflected lower demand overall. Nineteen US Mint products had better weekly sales versus the previous week when fifty-four products shown brighter.

Three of the four U.S. Army and Medal of Honor silver coins were among the better products experiencing stronger demand. Silver sets were lower. However, two were suspended during the reporting week as the US Mint is in the process of adjusting their prices higher due to 31-year higher silver prices […]

Glacier National Park Quarter Rolls

Rising performances were noted for many coin products, according to US Mint weekly sales news updates. And the debut sales figures for Glacier quarters were also released.

The Glacier quarters are following the lead of previous issues from the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. Sales of the quarter bags and rolls were lower than past releases. In their opening, buyers grabbed about half of the Glacier quarter bags and three-quarters of the rolls as compared to the very first Hot Springs quarter issue […]

2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set

The United States Mint has placed a hold on two of its silver products, the 14-coin 2010 Silver Proof Set and the five coin 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set.

Each of the sets, which contain coins minted from 90% silver, have presumably been suspended because their intrinsic melt values have risen sharply since mid-March when the two sets were last suspended to undergo price increases. Silver rallied over the $40 an ounce psychological level on Friday, which is a new price high not seen since it went over $50 an ounce back in 1980.

2011 American Silver Eagle

From a perspective of volume, 2011 American Silver Eagles were most vocal in various news articles about US Mint weekly coin sales.

The coins minted with investors in mind managed to top the 13 million barrier in year-to-date sales, and are on their way to smashing last year’s annual record of 34.6+ million.

Also in weekly sales news was the debuting performances of the 2011 Native American $1 coin rolls and the Andrew Johnson Presidential Dollar Coin Covers. The coin covers had four-day sales of […]

American Eagle Gold and Silver Bullion Coins

There was not a lot of excitement in the latest series of US Mint weekly sales, coin news articles on the subject revealed.

The biggest "winners" over the reported 7-day period were bullion coins, namely American Silver Eagles and American Gold Eagles. The eagles improved over their prior weekly sales, with the exception of the 1/4 oz size which remained the same and therefore came in with a zero weekly gain […]

Uncirculated Abigail Fillmore First Spouse Gold Coin

Weekly sales news articles highlighted several US Mint products, but headlines keyed on gold coins — collector First Spouse Gold Coins and the new bullion 2011 American Buffalo Gold Coins.

First Spouse Gold Coins were in focus because sales jumped nicely for the series and two of the 24-karat gold coins sold out, leaving only four remaining for buyers when there are usually eight. The two that sold out were the uncirculated versions honoring Jane Pierce and Abigail Fillmore […]

2011 American Buffalo Gold Bullion Coin

The United States Mint began selling its 2011 American Buffalo Gold Bullion Coin exactly one week ago, on March 14, 2011.

Sales of the coins started out slower than last year’s issue, but they have seen a steady increase. The United States Mint’s first published sales figures were released last Wednesday which showed 21,500 sold. Their numbers increased by 4,500 on Friday and then by another 5,000 on Monday, bringing their first week total to 31,000 […]

Mount Hood National Park Quarter

The latest round of US Mint weekly sales news articles concentrated around the reduced demand for collector products, trimmed totals and another achievement for bullion American Silver Eagles.

Demand was down almost across the board for numismatic coins and sets. 2011 commemorative coins stood out. Current to previous weekly gains retreated 66% for the 2011 US Army Commemorative Coins and 62% for the 2011 Medal of Honor Commemorative Coins.

In terms of trimmed totals, Mount Hood National Park Quarter bags and rolls claimed the top visible spot. The prior US Mint sales report had the 100-coin bags from Philadelphia and Denver rise by a combined total of 5,280. The rolls shot up 17,334 […]
