The United States Mint is wrapping up their 2011 product schedule with the final America the Beautiful Quarters® and Presidential $1 Coin related issues for November and December.

Two are 24-karat gold coins, three are bronze medals and there is a bronze set. Others consist of another America the Beautiful Quarters® Three-Coin Set, a Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set, a five ounce uncirculated silver coin, and another Presidential $1 Coin Cover.

Additionally, the last two America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins were expected out in late 2011, but with the federal holiday schedule and the US Mint’s year end activities, it looks as if the last two 2011-dated strikes will end up postponed until 2012.

The order of those releases, plus a few recent ones, are displayed in the table below. The following table and links provide summary release information on each product.

Below are short summaries of the US Mint November and December 2011 product launches and their estimated starting prices:

11.02.2011 – Nisei Soldiers of World War II Bronze Medals

The first products offered by the United States Mint in November are the Nisei Soldiers of World War II Bronze Medals. Nisei soldiers were second generation Americans of Japanese ancestry who served in WWII. These bronze medals are duplicates of the Congressional Gold Medal to be awarded on November 2, 2011, to the Japanese American soldiers, widows and family members associated with 100th Infantry Battalion (INF BN), the 442nd Regimental Combat Team (RCT), and the Military Intelligence Service (MIS). The award recognizes their dedicated patriotism, service and sacrifice during the war.

11.14.2011 – Chickasaw National Recreational Area Quarters Bags and Two-Roll Set

Mid-November features the fifth America the Beautiful Quarter for this year and the tenth in the series. The Chickasaw quarter honors the national site located in the state of Oklahoma. The coin’s design features the Lincoln Bridge, a popular spot with visitors. The Chickasaw National Recreation Area Quarter enters circulation on November 14, the same day the United States Mint will offer 100-coin bags and two-roll sets of the quarters for sale on its website. The set contains 80 quarters in total — one 40-coin roll from the Denver facility and the other 40-coin roll minted in Philadelphia. Buyers can also purchase 100-coin bags of the quarters from either facility.

11.16.2011 – New Frontier Bronze Medals

Four astronauts will be awarded the New Frontier Congressional Gold Medal by leaders of Congress on November 16, 2011. The astronauts include John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. Two sizes of bronze duplicates of the medals will be made available by the US Mint for the public. The three inch bronze medal will have the same diameter and thickness as the original gold medal. The smaller medal, measuring one and a half inches in diameter will be a miniature bronze duplicate.

11.17.2011 – James Garfield Presidential $1 Coin Rolls

The United States Mint is releasing the James Garfield Presidential $1 Coin Rolls on November 17, the same day the Federal Reserve Bank System is releasing the Presidential coin into circulation. It is the fourth in the Presidential dollar coin program this year and the twentieth in the series that started in 2007. Buyers can choose whether they want a 25-coin roll of the clad Garfield dollars with mintmarks from Denver or Philadelphia.

11.29.2011 – 2011 Quarters Circulating Coin Set

Although each of the five 2011-dated America the Beautiful Quarters were and are being released individually, the US Mint has packaged all of the strikes together in one more collector set, due out on November 29. Ten clad coins, five from Denver and five from Philadelphia, will be mounted within a special display card that will allow easy removal if the buyers wish to put their quarters into an album or another collecting tool.

11.29.2011 – Olympic National Park 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin

Also debuting on November 29 is the collectible Olympic National Park 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin by the US Mint. The silver issue is the third dated 2011 and the sixth in the America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Coin series. The 2011 Olympic silver coin has a maximum mintage of 35,000. It features the same designs as seen on the Olympic America the Beautiful Quarter released on June 13. The main differences are its 3-inch size, 5 ounces of .999 fine silver, and edge letterings denoting the fineness and weight.

12.1.2011 – Lucretia Garfield First Spouse Gold Coins

Coin Category: First Spouse Gold Coins | Opening Price: Proof $ 1,029; Uncirculated $1,016

The first products offered by the United States Mint in December are the Lucretia Garfield First Spouse Gold Coins. These one-half ounce 24 karat gold coins have the same diameter as the circulating James Garfield Presidential $1 coins and are intended for collectors as companions to the Presidential series. The United States Mint produces the gold coins in two finishes, proof and uncirculated. The obverse has a portrait of the First Lady, while the reverse has an image emblematic of her life, and for Lucretia it involved painting. Prices are subject to weekly changes based on the average price of one ounce of gold on the London Fix.

12.1.2011 – Lucretia Garfield Bronze Medal

Coin Category: Medals | Opening Price: $7.95

The Lucretia Garfield Bronze Medal bears the likeness of the Lucretia Garfield First Spouse Gold Coins but with a larger diameter, 1 5/16 inches, and is composed of bronze (90% copper and 10% zinc) not gold. This numismatic item provides an economical solution for collectors enjoying the series and launches the same day as the gold coins.

12.1.2011 – First Spouse Bronze Four-Medal Set

Coin Category: Medals | Opening Price: $19.95

Like previous years, the United States Mint is releasing a First Spouse Bronze Medal Set that contains each current issue. The medals in the 2011 set honor Eliza Johnson, Julia Grant, Lucy Hayes and Lucretia Garfield. Since the individual First Spouse Bronze Medals sell for $7.95 each, this set with all four medals saves buyers $11.85. The medals are packaged in plastic and inserted into a folded card with information about each strike.

12.20.2011 – Chickasaw Quarter Three-Coin Set

Coin Category: America the Beautiful Quarters | Opening Price: $14.95

The The United States Mint will release the economical Olympic Quarter Three-Coin Set in mid-September. It is the third set of its kind this year and the eighth in the America the Beautiful Quarters series. The Olympic quarter celebrates the national park located in the state of Washington, and the design on its reverse features the rugged Mount Olympus. With a proof 2011-S, an uncirculated 2011-P, and an uncirculated 2011-D strike in each set, all of the United States Mint facilities that manufacture the clad quarters are represented. The set makes perfect sense for fans of the America the Beautiful Quarters.

12.22.2011 – Garfield Presidential Coin & First Spouse Medal Set

Coin Category: Presidential Dollars | Opening Price: $14.95

The next set in the US Mint’s line up includes the James Garfield Presidential $1 Coin and the Lucretia Garfield First Spouse Bronze Medal. Although each is available separately, the set that will be made available on December 22 will be packaged together within a decorative display card featuring the President and First Lady’s images on the front with their signatures and an American Flag as a backdrop. The James Garfield dollar features his portrait on its obverse and the Statue of Liberty on the reverse. The Lucretia Garfield bronze medal features the same designs as the First Spouse Gold Coins that honor her. Her portrait is on the obverse of the medal, and the reverse portrays her painting on a canvas.

12.29.2011 – James Garfield Presidential $1 Coin Cover

Coin Category: Presidential Dollars | Opening Price: $19.95

The last product scheduled in 2011 will be the James Garfield Presidential $1 Coin Cover. This collector’s product has two Garfield dollars from the first day of minting. The Denver coin was struck on September 1, and the Philadelphia coin was struck on September 8. These coins are packaged within a display card along with a U.S. 44-cent Flag postage stamp postmarked on the day they start in circulation, November 17. The James Garfield Presidential $1 Coin is the 20th release in the Presidential $1 Coin Program which debuted in 2007. The $1 coin cover has a production limit of 22,000 units.
