Arthur Presidential $1 Coin & Alice Paul Medal Set

On Thursday, October 18, 2012, the United States Mint released its first Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set for this year.

Honoring President Arthur and Suffragist Alice Paul, debut sales for this year’s inaugural set were 1,025. Based on past releases since 2011, eventual sales should clock in around the 6,000 area, give or take several hundred. Since 2009, the sets are one of the few U.S. Mint products that are sold for more than one year and that does cloud the prediction.

Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Sets do have a collector fan base but it appears to be shrinking each year, as realized when looking at their recent sales. The following grid offers a breakdown of all sets since 2009. Included beside the names are columns with whether the sets are still sold by the United States Mint, their price and the latest sales figures as of Monday, October 22, 2012:

Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Sets are made available at a minimum rate of four per year. Sets still for sale may be ordered from the U.S. Mint website at http://www.usmint.gov/catalog.

Forthcoming 2012-dated sets include those honoring Grover and Frances Cleveland (first and second term) and Benjamin and Caroline Harrison.
