The ANA and Certified Collectibles Group have agreed to a five-year extension that designates Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, Paper Money Guarantyand Numismatic Conservation Services as the ANA's official grading and conservation services.

NGC is the recognized leader for consistent and accurate coin grading and has been the ANA's only official grading service since 1995 [...]

The ANA World's Fair of Money show in Chicago reached an impressive attendance of 9,113, which included 5,341 members and 3,772 public visitors.

The show, held from August 16-20, offered a record number of tables, according to the ANA. It also featured 45 exhibitors with 72 exhibits. 61 of them were given awards.

ANA, PNG Announce Improvements for 2012 Official Pre-Show in Philadelphia

Promptly responding to dealers' comments about the first Official ANA-PNG Pre-Show in Chicago, leaders of the American Numismatic Association and the Professional Numismatists Guild have announced significant changes for next year's event in Philadelphia.

"There's always room for improvement in any show, but I think we laid a good foundation in our first attempt at a joint event, and the next show will be even better," said incoming ANA President Tom Hallenbeck. "We have constructive ideas for Philadelphia in 2012 and when we return to the Chicago area in 2013."

Collectors and Dealers Urged to Help Repeal New 1099 Requirements

The American Numismatic Association urges its members to contact their members of Congress and ask to repeal a law that could significantly increase the paperwork burden on dealers and increase the risk of identity theft for all collectors who buy and sell numismatic material.

Under Section 9006 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as health care reform legislation, businesses will be required to report all goods and services purchased in excess of $600 with an IRS 1099 form.

As written, the law would, beginning in 2012, require all coin dealers to report on IRS form 1099 all goods and services (totaled across a taxable year) they purchase from other dealers and customers in excess of $600.
