White Mountain National Forest Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins sold out with sales of 20,691

U.S. Mint authorized distributors ordered the last of the 35,000 produced White Mountain Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coins on Sept. 11 and all of the White Mountain Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins sold out on Oct. 9. The two are the first issues in 2013 in their respective series of America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Coins.

The U.S. Mint sold the uncirculated coins directly to the public for $154.95, with the latest published sales for it at 20,691.

Coin News Extra Update: Sales pulled back 168 to 20,523 as of the Mint’s sales report for Oct. 13, 2013. Returns and cancellations are likely the reason for the change. The numismatic sales figures in the table further below were updated to this date.

That is notably lower than the originally announced 25,000 possible mintage. It was available for less than 5 months, having gone on sale May 16, 2013 for $179.95. Its price was later lowered along with other silver coins and silver products in response to falling silver prices.

For both silver coins, their sales totals are higher than any of the last year’s issues. Below is a quick breakdown of sales for the America the Beautiful coins since 2012. Figures are as of Sunday, Oct. 13, for the uncirculated coins and Tuesday, Oct. 15, for the bullion coins. Those with "*" are sold out or no longer available.

A 25,000 mintage total was published for each of the uncirculated coins released this year the U.S. Mint. Early collector demand will often determine their final production totals, which is why the final sales total of the White Mountain Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin will be below 25,000. Its sellout under the mintage threshold suggests other America the Beautiful coins from this year will do the same.

This Coin News Extra article will get updated with final unaudited White Mountain coin sales, which should be available later this week or next.
