I’ve accumulated a considerable amount of Au!!! My wife can’t believe how high golds gone and it’s ALL going to be her Security Blanket for when SHTF. I have at most 5 years to live as I’m Stage 4 Cancer, making me a “Dead Man Walking”! I want my wife to have financial security and our gold will give her that especially if the US Dollar tanks!!! Always grabbed pucks when they were <$100 bullion Ed. The River of No Return only has 25k bullion. Over time it seems the bullion sell easier than burnished. Now, they both are basically Spot +/-…. When to sell becomes an issue?

Good, that Pre 33, I fired the mint after too many shutouts and crazy pricing. Save o. A few mint Au and score a 1933 $10…..

I still have some room in my Liberty safe for more Au and Ag! It is getting crowded though…Lol. The only paper I would hold for PM’s would be the ‘Gold Notes’ which aren’t paper, but supposedly 24k Au. You can buy a 1/1000th of a gram note for around $9.00. What a deal!

Cali: a loud Amen to holding physical……Storage not that big a deal unless you are into 1000 oz silver bars….a variety of small hand trucks, 4 wheel dollies, or electric pallet jacks are available for transport…..a monster box only weights 43 pounds….a fork lift attachment in place of the bucket on my tractors front end loader is great to unload trucks…..Tractor Supply has a 60 minute Liberty safe on sale for $1299 right now….

VinnieC, the fuss is about the current “silver squeeze” and supply and demand issues. Take a peek at this Bloomberg article on Mining dot com that I linked below, titled: “Silver traders rush bars to London as historic squeeze rocks market”.

People are being driven, assuredly by the spot rise in silver and gold, as well as what their hearing in the press and rushing out to buy(FOMO). How long this all lasts is anyone’s best guess? Same reason, we’ve been talking about the U.S. Mint raising silver product prices.

Another article to read is this one, over on Coin Week. “The Silver Freeze: Refining Backlogs Create a Liquidity Crisis for Junk Silver”(10/17/25). The 2 articles I mention, should perhaps give you a little insight, as to what all the fuss is about. If you were to read only one, I suggest reading the Coin Week article, as this should clear up the fuss and how this is affecting coin purchases/sales best IMO. The CWeek article has 63 comments, which is unheard of for their articles, which more often than not, have zero to just 1-5 at most.

If you don’t hold it, you don’t own it! The supply of paper contracts in just SLV and GLD, as well as other PM ETF’s, far outstrips the actual amount of physical silver and gold held to back those pieces of paper up. Some suggest that the GLD paper to physical ratio at somewhere between 100 and 250 or more to 1. Some suggest SLV is even higher and possibly as high as 378 to 1. Either way you look at it, if the owners of paper contracts were able to all demand they wanted to take physical delivery, you know what would hit the fan. That is why individual owners of SLV and GLD ETFs cannot demand physical delivery. This option is restricted to large, institutional Authorized Participants only. So, I guess if you’re a small guy and the big guys demand delivery, your shares of SLV or GLD could then be converted into SOL! LOL

On the other hand, if you are wealthy and had the money, storing large stores of physical silver or gold, becomes problematic as well? Think about all the people with the means to stack both silver and gold by the Minster box! How many safes, is one willing to buy, and take the necessary precautions to protect at all costs? Dilemma, dilemma, dilemma!

@CaliSkier, I got in after a short wait. Couldn’t figure what the fuss was about. I think the 2025 Snowman coins dropped on October 14th. I few years back I had a multi-hour wait for some product or other.

I am dying to know if the annual unc. mint set is unprofitable all by itself. I think that item is always lumped in the annual core set category with the proof set and silver proof sets. I don’t know if the proof coins are dragging them down or if they are unprofitable on their own. The annual core set in 2024 seem to be profitable until you add in SG&A (overhead) I don’t know how they allocate SG&A. It seems roughly proportional to units sold but not exactly.
