"I happen to be a taxpayer that is funding the Mint directly, and have multiple times per year since 2008."

No matter the spin, parsing, US Code, and the endless semantics' attempts with regard to how the Mint is funded - in the end, it's the taxpayer who funds the Mint, no one else. The Mint is not self sustaining. Perhaps it was self funded at one time, not anymore (an opinion).

Hi CaliSkier,
I am not participating in an event, I am simply spending my money with the Mint. The Mint should not be pleased to be leaving my or anyone else's money on the table, which is what is happening now and has been happening for years. I get that some of the decline in sales year over year is due to the decline in the use of physical money, but how much was due to frustration with the Mint? I have seen multiple comments here over the years saying someone was giving up on the Mint because they got shut out on something they really wanted (and lately people say they are leaving due to the price increases). It makes no sense to me that the Mint is not trying to sell as many of each coin as they are able. They are not supposed to be in the business of making sure others make money the Mint could have easily had instead.
What makes you say "that is not what the majority of collectors want IMO"? Last time there was a discussion here about Mint to Demand it looked like about even for and against to me. 3 or 4 people weighed in for each side I think. Maybe slightly more for than against if I remember correctly. How did you extrapolate to a "majority of collectors" from that?
In that earlier discussion someone pointed out that the Mint has used Mint to Demand successfully a few times in the past. I heard a lot of generalities of doom from the nay side but no actual examples of disaster, and none of them replied to that post.
The Mint should try it out with one product line. See how it goes. I think the Peace dollar would be a good choice. I intended to replace my ASE collecting with Morgan and Peace proofs, but since nobody was interested in my ASE collection, I am buying all 3 types currently. I should not have to subscribe for every special issue or set they release either. I should be able to sign up just once for one or more of every Proof Peace dollar or set containing one they make until I cancel. The Peace dollar currently sells less than the Morgan. If they start outselling Morgans because of Mint to Demand would that make it a success or failure in your book? I just do not believe it would have that much of an effect. Even imagining the Peace dollar outselling the Morgans simply because one is being minted with Mint to Demand and the other is not, makes me disbelieve even more that Mint to Demand would have the effect you critics claim. I just cannot see that happening. I have been told many times the Mint is not here to make collectors like me happy, they are here to make a profit. How could Mint to Demand not have a positive effect on the Mint's bottom line, even more so if you critics are right about humongous mintages, which again, I highly doubt anyway. I honestly do not see people flooding back to the Mint just because they take up Mint to Demand. But maybe the Mint would stop losing people due to frustration at being coin blocked by the Mint itself.
I happen to be a taxpayer that is funding the Mint directly, and have multiple times per year since 2008.
If I recall correctly, there have been a few times that the Mint lost money quarterly, but I am not sure if they have ever lost money for a whole year.
I tried searching "What happens when there is a shortfall in the U.S. Mint Public Enterprise Fund?" And "Who pays when...." but I saw no entry that answered my question. If that has ever happened before, how did they cover the budget shortfall for the next year? Could it have been the taxpayer? If that hasn't yet happened, I expect it will happen in their future unless the use of physical money picks up again. If that happens is there someone other than the taxpayer who would make up the shortfall?

I see no new products being released on any upcoming Federal Holidays, and I'm not too worried about the ability to place an order online on a holiday.

Since one or two FHG was successfully ordered last New Years Day at 7:30 ET, well after the sellout, you know where I'll be on Labor Day - 2025.

PFSWeb in the capacity as the E-Commerce and fulfillment contractor for the US Mint. I've never gotten all the federal holidays off working for a private company...typically just New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The USPS, banks and schools do seem to observe most federal holidays. The E-Store site seems to be open 24/7, however on product release days it might be wise to have some humans around and maybe some help from Cloudflare humans too.

I'll say yes since Mr Google says it's a big fulfilment and logistics provider.
If you're referring to something else you'll need to be very specific as to what you're referring to.
