Roberta was born in Black Mountain North Carolina, moved to Arlington VA at age 5, and graduated from Howard University at age 19. She recently passed last February at the age of 88.

And the movie that put “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” on the map (and on its way to #1) – “Play Misty for Me” with Clint Eastwood.

Thanks E1 for all the tunes you put up! I forgot one that my Mom, loved, loved, loved!!! Carole King, “I Feel the Earth Move” and “It’s Too Late”!! Those songs will be forever etched in my memory and give me chills to this day, when I hear them! Carole King is an absolute song writing legend and singer! Even though she’s 83, retired in 2012, it would be so cool to see or have seen her perform live IMO! She’s in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice! Once as a songwriter and once as an artist! PS Also wrote “You’ve Got a Friend” which became a major hit for her as well as James Taylor! “Tapestry” 14X Platinum and it won four Grammy Awards at the 14th Annual Grammys in 1972, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. Also “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance”!
