Tom

Thanks for the tip. I finally figured out what you and Cali were referring to about your pt (Physical Therapy)! I do now remember you tweaked your knee badly getting out of your plane--As you were headed to the FUN Show, and gimped your way around--Ouch!! I hope you fully recover if at all possible.

The ANA National Money show in the Springs last weekend..Thanks for asking as to how it went Tom..
Well, for never being to a coin show, and never submitting in person nor ship to a TPG, on a snowy show schedule and on the last day, it went well overall. I had a blast(now I know I'm a coin nerd!).. It was not as busy as I had anticipated, but understandable given the circumstances. My first objective was to get my coins over to PCGS, then NGC. Knowing the show was ending earlier on day 3 at 3, and me getting there near 11 am, I felt apprehensive given that I did not have my pre-printed forms fully complete, and a couple of forms I left blank with questions. I had 24 raw coins to submit, and 3 slabbed coins on the docket for re-holder(1), conservation(1), and re-grade(2). Needless to say I was at the PCGS booth for a good hour! After that I went looking for NGC, couldn't find them? Until realizing I had walked right past their abandoned booth next to PCGS earlier! That was disappointing as I had 2 raw gold coins for them to grade, not to mention 6 old style slabbed gold coins to be re-holdered into their updated EdgeView holders..But nooo? I had an attitude for a day and got over it. I can understand them wanting to pack up & head back to sunny FL given the bad weather.. Same with several dealers, they were packing up by noon..
I think the highlight for me was to check out the amazing Museum displays on hand:
1) The 1933 Indian Head Eagle $10, exceedingly rare.
2) The first US Dimes x3 varieties of the 1796 & 1797 dimes.
3) An example of the 1943 cent meant to be steel struck in 1942 Bronze, so cool. And the 1944 cent meant to be Bronze struck in 1943 steel!
4) The 'Lesher' Dollars
5) Probably my favorite. The first US Large cents. Around a dozen. 1793 Flowing Hair/Chain, some Liberty Caps, and Draped Bust Liberty cents, Earlier Fugios were there too if I remember correctly. I think I saw some on the floor as well?..

The most widely seen coin I saw, raw or graded? Was Morgans--everywhere! So popular they are, I have a Morgan bug myself, saw some amazing displays. One guy had nothing but fresh high graded PCGS CAC stickered Morgans, and some higher grade pre-33 Liberty/Eagles to boot. Stunning to see all of that in person. He must have had over a million in Inventory..
One of them, a Morgan DMPL -64 or -65(I forget the year) was at a staggering $90K asking price, wow!
I picked up a nice 1899 PCGS MS-65+ greenie for my fix, and a good deed to patronize as well...
I had fun given my limited visit. Next time I'll try to get there on day 1 or 2, or both!
Too bad it has been rumored to no longer be at the Broadmoor anymore sadly enough. So I'm glad to have made this show, no doubt, coming from this newbie..
It was nice getting a freebie goodie bag, not to mention admission. Inside my bag was a floor map, a March copy of The Numismatist Mag, and a quarterly copy of Market Review from Greysheet(I'll see how I did on my Morgan?)..But I think the freebie I liked the most? 2 free pens from PCGS lol !

Thanks for listening...

if you open the mint website and change the year you can go back as far as 2017 to see what items were selling for. so for example change 2024 to 2017 so it reads:

Funny you mention Cali,
I ran across a Mint receipt from 2013 while digging around lately,(Not sure about spot $), but,
2012 ATB Qtr. Silver Proof Set was $36.95

And a 2013 Unc.ASE was $48.95

Not a huge difference ($5.00) for that time gap? But Geez, you're correct. Current Mint pricing is getting ridiculous!
Even paying on Tues. for the Burger today aint gonna be cheap!!

Wow! I stumbled into an old note of mine from September 20, 2020. “ Here’s a cost/oz of Ag numismatic product of a few mint products. Spot per ounce currently(Sept 2020) is $26.56

2020 PF ASE $64.50
2020 Unc. ASE $54.00
2020 Ag PF set $42.17
2020 Ag ATB .25 PF set $42.50
2020 ATB P 5oz $35.65
2020 Pres Ag Med. $46.00
2020 Commem PF Ag $1, $86.15
2020 Commem Un Ag $1, $80.33
2020 Commem Color Ag $1, $110.59”

I’m so unhappy with their pricing, I won’t bother figuring out how lame pricing is/oz of silver currently in 2024! Ugggh…

Craig said in a previous thread: “As far as those 5 oz ‘pucks’, I have over 100 of them in my safe and I certainly wouldn’t use them to play hockey. I have the entire series and most of them cost me $149.95 (some of the first ones were a bit more money.)”

Just wondering if your opposition to using for hockey, would be to how painful it would be, to get hit by one? Definitely would leave a mark or laceration? Awesome that you have the entire series! Do you have both P and bullion 5oz’ers or a combo? I’d intended to complete the P series, however managed only 42 of the 56 offered. 7 missing total, due to Fed Ex, USPS(my guess), CC, US Mint fiasco.(2016/2017). Long story… 6 missing due to me being stubborn/principal, in not wanting to pay the ransom(price raise)for 2020 & 2021 and one(SA Missions) missing, as I wasn’t too fond of the design and also think the pricing had been raised(?) possibly, to boot. My range of prices paid were $279.95 in 2010, to a low of $139.95in 2014, with the 10% discount offered with subscriptions! Those were the days! $380, now, seriously WTH! Rick, I bet any one buying those 2010 Bullion 5oz ATB, at release were stoked the US Mint intervened and made them(AP’s) refund buyers. Due to that initial price gouge by the AP’s, I didn’t even bother trying to order and held out for the “spendy” P versions. Not to mention, at the time I’d just started buying US Mint and RCM products in 2008 after stumbling into MNBlog. $279/5oz coin was and still is a bit pricey IMO. I still may complete the collection some day, however as it stand now, I’d be looking at 14 coins at roughly or at least $200/coin and most likely, $3,000 plus. I’d rather p/u my first Pre 33 gold Double Eagle, or any Pre 33 gold, which’d be my first of any(Pre 33), for that price. That $169.95 +$5.00 shipping, for 6oz’s of .9999 Fine silver is looking better and better DaveSWFL and Major D!
