In reply to Scooby. it really is a good point to make these in pure silver, but I have a little different take on the affordability (hate to use this term today) but I believe two things, the medals just do not increase in value from a numismatic perspective and the denominated coins will, especially this year. The other point on the cost would be that when these decisions were made, I believe gold was trading at approximately 2600/oz.

Is it that the talent, and infusion artists, at the mint don't have the talent of those famous designers from the past-or is it that they don't understand a good coin design? To start with no one wants a Lincoln cent or a Jefferson Nickel in 2026. Here's a thought for the various dime designs. For a 2026 ONE CENT coin-a modified version of dime O-02. For a 2026 FIVE CENT COIN-the CCAC recommendation for the dime O-03. And for the 2026 DIME, the CFA recommendation of DIME-O-01A.

Can we please dispense with 24K Gold. If they are going to do this it should be in the original gold coin compositions. 24K is too soft, even though these coins will spend eternity encapsulated in plastic.
