These are how many quarters with the Shenandoah National Park design it made in circulating-quality for use in daily commerce. The total is the second highest of the America the Beautiful Quarters, behind the 504,200,000 minted in 2013 with the Mount Rushmore design.

Two U.S. Mint plants are tasked with the job of striking such coins, the Denver Mint and the Philadelphia Mint. Split by production plant, the Denver Mint produced 197,800,000 Shenandoah Quarters and the Philadelphia Mint made 112,800,000.

Shenandoah National Park Quarters launched on Mar. 31, 2014 as the second of the five 2014 America the Beautiful Quarters, trailing the Jan. 27, 2014 release featuring the design honoring Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Circulating-quality Shenandoah Quarters will eventually be found in pocket change but they can be ordered right now straight from the U.S. Mint website at www.usmint.gov/catalog. The Mint is offering them in numismatic rolls and bags in quantities ranging from single rolls of 40 coins to 100-coin bags and in prices ranging from $18.95 to$46.95. Available products include circulating-quality quarters produced in Denver, Philadelphia and San Francisco. Coins from the San Francisco Mint are produced solely for collectors and are not found in circulation.

Up for release next is the design emblematic of Arches National Park. This quarter will not come out until June 9, 2014 but U.S. Mint product figures through March already show 10.3 million made. This amount has not officially been assigned to a specific design but that is the norm since the bureau does not offer quarter mintages until they are done with one design and have moved on to striking the next one.

What decides how many quarters of a certain design are made is the amount of orders the Mint receives from the Federal Reserve. Because of that, there can be large swings in mintages by quarter design. In rare instances, the Mint has returned to strike more quarters of a certain design.
