Final sales are now known for the clad 2011 Proof Set and the clad 2012 Proof Set. The latter’s sales, notably, are the lowest since 1956.
The 2012 Proof Set launched on May 7, 2012 and unexpectedly sold out on January 3, 2013. The 2011 Proof Set debuted on January 11, 2011 and it went off sale on December 31, 2012 as pre-warned by the United States Mint.
United States Mint final reported sales for recent proof sets are listed below. The set for 2012 has sales well under past proof sets. In fact, its total is the lowest since the annual set from 1956 logged sales of 669,384.

The expected release date for this year’s 2013 Proof Set is March 28, 2013. Its price is $31.95, the same as the previous three annual proof sets.
