March is an exceptionally busy month for the hobby of numismatics. The United States has major releases on its product schedule and many coin collectors looking forward to getting their hands on them.

US Mint Product Releases for March 2014

A few of the releases on the US Mint’s March product schedule

Topping the list of anticipated releases is the annually issued clad Proof Set and the curved shaped 2014 Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coins. These products are in the middle of the March product schedule with 2014 Native American $1 Coins before and 2014 Shenandoah National Park Quarters following.

Atypically, product launches are stacked more toward the end of the month with the first ones not available until the 20th. This Coin News Extra article offers summary information for the releases but first, here is a copy of the Mint’s March 2014 product schedule:

3.20.2014 – 2014 Native American $1 Coins

2014 Native American $1 Coins have a reverse design commemorating the native hospitality ensuring the success of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Featured is a Native American man offering a pipe, while his wife offers provisions of fish, corn, roots, and gourds.

These new dollar coins launch on the 20th in rolls, bags and boxes. Specifically, products include 25-coin rolls for $32.95, 100-coin bags for $111.95, and 250-coin boxes for $275.95. With these product options, buyers also have the choice of coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint or the Denver Mint.

3.25.2013 – 2013 Mint Proof Set

Coin Category: Annual Sets | Price: $31.95

High-most on the Mint’s popular product list is the annual clad Proof Set. This year’s 14-coin 2014 Proof Set debuts on the 25th for the same $31.95 price as last year’s set. That one was released on the 28th and has current sales of 786,616.

What makes these sets so popular is that they include proof quality versions of all a year’s circulating coinage, plus the year’s four Presidential $1 Coins, the Native American $1 Coin and the Kennedy half-dollar. All the coins are struck at the San Francisco Mint and bear the ‘S’ mint mark.

The proof coins are presented in three protective lenses to preserve their finish.

3.27.2014 – National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coins

America’s first curved shape coinage takes center stage on the 27th with clad, silver and gold 2014 National Baseball of Fame Commemorative Coins. These Baseball coins recognize and celebrate the National Baseball Hall of Fame which marks its 75th anniversary this year.

Obverses of the Baseball coins depict a glove and are concave. Reverses are convex and depict a baseball similar to those used in Major League Baseball. Available product options include proof and uncirculated collector qualities in $5 gold, $1 silver and 50-cent clad. Pricing of the Baseball coins will become available closer to their release.

3.31.2014 – 2014 Shenandoah National Park Quarter Rolls and Bags

Coin Category: America the Beautiful Quarters | Price: varies

Ending the month on the 31st, the United States Mint will begin selling rolls and bags of the Shenandoah National Park Quarters. This release marks the second of the five 2014-dated America the Beautiful Quarters.

Product options include three-roll sets of one roll from the Philadelphia Mint, one roll from the Denver Mint and one roll from the San Francisco Mint with pricing of $46.95. For $32.95, collectors can get a two-roll set of a roll from Philadelphia and a roll from Denver. Then for $18.95, a roll from San Francisco is available. And lastly, 100-coin bags of the Shenandoah quarters from either minting facility may be ordered for $34.95.
