@MikeHunt the AI RP set ML increase from 60,000 was brought up somewhere but I figure out which article it was attached too. $60 is not as bad as $107 but still not a drop in the bucket

Is it just me ... or did anyone else notice that the Mint JUST raised the number of American Innovation 2026 $1 Coin Reverse Proof Sets to Mintage Limit: 99,792?

Even though I viewed it as kind of an "ante" (ie you did it but you didn't want to) into the Poker Game, I have had a subscription for (1) $1 Innovation set ever since its inception. I upped it to (2) earlier this year due to the "250 Privy" so that I wouldn't miss out on something I thought might be a sleeper this year. I think its original limit was 60,000.

The Mint has been offering the back-issue Morgan and Peace issues plus some ASE's for far too long. Almost zero sales. Collectors are getting them on the secondary market in some cases, for less. They will end up melting them. Seems like they could have used the silver to bolster the '26 silver proof set, for example.

@DaveSWFL one of the coins I want is the 2023 No Privy Atlantic 50P. The privy version was available from the Royal Mint store in sets and other forms. The no privy version is one of 200,000 circulating 50p which was a low for the circulating 50p.

Regarding the Congratulations Set, I wonder what they are going to do with the 2027 Congrats Set. Subcription NP for 27RF is still listing the mintage as 60,000 and from the Philadelphia Mint. We have all seen that type of information change closer to drop date, but I wonder if the ML will remain the same and the striking mint be different from 27EA. I still thing the person that decided the 60,000 ML (based on 25RF sales?) for 26RF and the person the chose Philidelphia for 26RF were different people and they didn't talk to each other.

The reference Vinnie cited on the previous article, Privy Marks on Coins, US Mint, Stephanie Meredith, April 6, 2020, states,

"In 2009, the American Eagle Platinum Coin included an eagle privy mark on the reverse. The design came from an original coin punch found at the Philadelphia Mint. The privy mark appeared on American Eagle platinum coins until 2014 as part of the Preamble to the Constitution series."

The Mint will need the gimmick of the privy mark to make 2027 a success. As I've said, my money is on the Baseball Youth Sports quarter and the 100th anniversary of the 1927 Yankees/Babe Ruth 60 home runs. The 9/11 halves is proof the Mint can create a commemorative out of the circulating coinage without leave of Congress. To paraphrase The Eagles, the Mint "Sent out a lot of ugly boxes/and Jesus, people bought them."
