It’s hard to tell with the toning. I think canvas bags, envelopes, drawers, certain aftermarket coin display holders, and even an old blue album may cause this toning? Maybe artificial/partial AT? The toning is partially rubbed/scuffed as if it may have been in an album and “slid” a bit here & there?
E1 knows his stuff and may chime in. Yes that Eagle Head is weak & mushy above, and is not displaying a FSBK (Full Split Beak). Here is the reverse of one of my 1964-D coins, MS-67 ⇊, notice the relatively clean head, eye, and sharp Beak? Nice coin. Maybe I’ll keep it around?..⇊…

Rick, the more I look at it, although it passes PCGS muster, I feel this is possibly “questionable color”? Could the “dinged bare spot” be where the coin had possibly been held by something, while whatever agent or means(smoke, chemical, other) of toning artificially was introduced? The reverse rim has a definite cascading rainbow of blue, purple, hot pink, orange, yellow, blue between 10-2 on the reverse.

Definitely, by no means do I have experience, however this uneven or non-uniform toning looks off somewhat to me? I’ve read where, sometimes rainbow toning occurred while in canvas bags? The bare spot sets off my “Spidey” senses! Haha Although they both have it, the obverse appears to have more chatter than the reverse.

The eagles head appears to have a weak strike or lack of details(mushy) and I wonder if you or E1 find this to be expected on the 1964 Kennedy’s?

Yes, it hit my radar, is quite colorful, but it won’t quite work for my toner silver set (’64-70). Terry’s toners does have some nice ones. Similarly, the GC “sunset & neon lights” series has some nice coins that occasionally show up too.
I have two ’64-D’s (66+ & 67) in my vest pocket already, (the 66+ I bought from CW journalist Michael Bugeja via GC) – they didn’t make the cut/criteria as well, so the search continues… The coin you found is cool, but the obv-dinged-bare-spot sort of killed it for me..⇊ Thanks for keeping an eye out!

During my dramatic order of WW, I asked a sales rep when Golden Superman and Batman would ship. She said January 19 for Supe and two days later for the Bat. I’ll believe it when I see it.
