I was so enthusiastic in 2021. Since then my enthusiasm has waned with the rise in price. This series may eventually end up like the American Buffalo gold coin with only a fraction sold every year due to the cost. I'll stick with it but I've lowered the quantity of coins I'm buying. The wheel of inflation keeps turning.

You’re spot on REB and coin number 2 was definitely the dog of the group! Although I am quite fond of dogs! Haha. Especially my “Hershey Boy” who I sadly had to help transition over the Rainbow Bridge on August 8, 2024. I Love you Hershey and hope your getting all your the walks and mouthfuls of snow you deserve and loved so much! Whenever I shoveled the snow off the deck, I’d always leave him a patch, because he loved eating it so much! He actually loved it as much as my wonderful Mom loved to shovel snow, all the way up to her passing. She literally loved shoveling snow! She was an awesome Mom and one of the most kind and generous people you could have ever known! Love you Mom, hope the food up there is as good as what you always prepared!

You can watch the actual auction using the link I posted above and skip to the 22:34 mark. So here are the opening and winning bids for the “Lucky 7” with my picks followed by the actual order of how the coins were actually sold, in the actual order sold.

1. Coin 6, Lot 1006 Open $300K, hammer at $550K
2. Coin 3, Lot 1003 Open $320K, hammer at $400K
3. Coin 5, Lot 1005 Open $280K, hammer at $500K
4. Coin 1, Lot 1001 Open $360K, hammer at $380K
5. Coin 7, Lot 1007 Open $340K, hammer at $550K
6. Coin 4, Lot 1004 Open $300K, hammer at $420K
7. Coin 2, Lot 1002 Open $300K, hammer at $360K

Actual order and final bid below.
1. 2000 W 22K Au Lot 1001 $380K
2. 2000 W 22K Au Lot 1002 $360K
3. 2000 W 22K Au Lot 1003 $400K
4. 2000 W 22K Au Lot 1004 $420K
5. 2000 W 22K Au Lot 1005 $500K
6. 2000 W 22K Au Lot 1006 $550K
7. 2000 W 22K Au Lot 1007 $550K
8. 2025 W 24K Au Lot 1008 $120K

Interesting correlation IMO, that people began bidding more money based on inventory going down and less on the coins quality? Exceptions being, what I’d considered the best and worst coins of the group, that I’d picked? Top dollar for my first(1) choice Lot 1006 aka coin 6 and least amount paid for my last pick(7) aka Lot 1002 . Although my 5th(Lot 1007) pick tied for the highest price paid, this IMO had to do with it being the last chance at owning one of these rare coins? The best deal of the day was my 2nd pick, aka Lot 1003, which sold for $100K less than my 3rd pick(Lot 1005) and $150K less than my top pick(Lot 1006), coming in at just $400,000. I think people were still feeling out the pricing? Just $400K… Haha

The next best deal IMO was my number 4 pick, Lot 1001 which went for just $380 and I believe this was due to people feeling out the pricing more than due to the coins quality. I still feel that my picks 1-4 were the best quality in this grouping of 7 even though, my picks 2 and 4 sold for the 5th and 6th lowest amounts. The coin that I feel a collector paid slightly too much for IMO was my number 6 pick Lot 1004, which sold for more than my number 2 and 4 picks.

Lastly, IMO the coins more or less followed more of a feel out the price and linear progression of pricing based on availability , than a price based on quality trend? PS IMO East Coast Guru and Rick tied for best guesstimate honors, with John Q taking 2nd! Thanks VinnieC, Sharks2th, HarryB, REB and the aforementioned winners and runner up for stepping onto the “Midway” to make your guesstimates! PSS Nothing quite like throwing dull darts at thick under inflated balloons! Haha

May basis of estimate was:
20/7*$194,000 = $554,000 for 7 coins vs. 20 known Sacagawea/Quarter mules at the last auction price.
and $18.9M/7 = $2.7M for the 1933 Double Eagle

I raised the lower estimate to $750M guessing an interest factor of about 1.5 (really closer to 1.4). Lowered my higher guess by a dis-interest factor of .75

Clearly the 1933 was not a BOE. If i would have left my interest factor closer to 1, I would have hit the higher price of the auction.

I have some work to do on my price modelling. It is all voodoo and black magic anyway.
