Great story, I’ve had a few ‘close calls’ myself, and I’ll leave it at that!

One other thing – the Chevette was the only diesel car I’ve ever driven.

It wasn’t the most stable car I’ve ever driven. I delivered a motor paper route in the Chevette for my parents for a while. I once reached for a falling stack of papers and went into a skid on some gravel on a back road. I turned into the skid a couple of times as the car whipped back and forth. It finally did a 360 and landed in the ditch. No harm, no foul, no damage. It was a “Jesus Take the Wheel” moment. Perhaps HE would have found more use for the wheel than I did.

Those numbers, both the Comic and the Army, are a far, far cry from being a flop. Quite the opposite imo. For the Mint, both are successful releases despite what the “first day sellout”, “no legs” crowd thinks.

Ditto on the Chevette, my first clutch, mid – 80’s.
It also had a big hole in the driver’s seat floorboard – like the Flintstones lol. I put sheet metal over it…
But, as a budding Carpenter, it was all I had, and made it work.
