The hikes absolutely resulted in less purchases. Indeed, a one year celebration coin became a new mint standard bearer. But, we grow tired of overpriced, repetitive stuff being churned out,ONE YEAR REVERAND Cali!!! Churning, Porgan$, Au dimes, ASE up the wazoo, phaser privy coming, bizarre designs and just plain poor marketing, without the metals price pop, the USM would be doing worse even charging an arm & leg for stuff….

They jumped from $76 to $91. We will see how the lower mintage pans out this year. I suspect if they got the mintage and product limits correct, we will expect to be hearing people pissed off that they “missed the boat”? In my opinion and many others, these should have been one and done in 2021! Coin News article with 177 comments from last years release and also silver price increases. Among the comments is E1’s stellar Franklin Half dollar album and dipping(e*Z*est, pronounced easiest) for desired results. Still somewhat odd to me, is that dipping a coin which is a chemical bath, resulting in removal of some of the metal(albeit very little) with it, is not considered cleaning in the hobby. For any curious, it is composed of sulfuric acid, thiourea, and industrial detergents. As E1 and Rick have explained previously, one has to be careful and quick, so as to not remove the luster or scratch the coin while handling. E1, in the past has explained his method, which is spot on in his methodology and procedures! Thanks E1 for sharing your process with us! Acetone makes sense, due to no metal being removed. Not criticizing, just an observation. I commented or declared to not be buying Mint product any longer, however I’ve allowed myself to be lured back by the Army privy, lower mintage Mor/Pea $1’s and the last year of Kennedy halves included in the Silver proof set. DOH! PS Rick you posted about your 1909 D Indian Head Gold $5(I’m drooling!). And a lot of comments about people not happy with the price raise and the cancelling or reducing subscription numbers. PSS Hard to argue with Chris Terp as well as comments relating to Cag and his previous demand destruction take: “Disappointing that the Mint is doing this. Guess they want to get out of the coin collection business.”

I see that. When the old holders that read MS on them, they list them accordingly(at auction). When the New holders that read SP — same idea. I would list them as labelled as well – to be 100% accurate as to what I’m selling…

What an abomination from what the Mint called them in 2013(they called it “Enhanced Uncirculated”) right inside the COA.
Looks like that’s how PCGS labeled/described them back then. And what we’re seeing is “old stock” for sale when we see “Enhanced Mint State” on the labels.
PCGS does NOT label them that way today.

Rick there is also this PCGS Auction Prices page and link showing both MS and SP designations as well.
“Silver Eagles, 2013-W Enhanced Silver Eagle SP $1”. Ironically on the PCGS Auction Prices page 2, they list NGC as also having MS designation, however all the ones where I checked the auction listing link, the label actually had the SP designation. CACG has chosen to use MS also.

Rick, I was blown away at the number of listings with this label. Coin looks legit and you can find them at more than one major bullion/coin dealer as well as all over EBay. Simply run a 2013 W Enhanced Mint State MS70 search. Apmex, Pinehurst, Mount Vernon, etc.
PS Coin Week has an article titled: “2013-W American Silver Eagle Enhanced Uncirculated Market Data and Noteworthy Specimens” with completed listings and they list both the PCGS SP and MS versions I mention. Picture from eBay and link to a November 2013 Heritage auction with a PCGS label using the same verbiage.

2013 “MS Enhanced Mint State” sounds like something either in a bogus title or description? Not on a legit label. Do you have a pic or link of the above?
2013 has the: 1) W-Enhanced Unc(from the Mint’s West Point set), and the: 2) W-Burnished Unc(solo, and also included in the Annual Unc 6 coin Set),
Both are in the SP category.
I’m leaving the 2 PF’s, & 1 or 2 MS(bullion) versions out of the equation for now.

@cagcrisp, Thank you for the insightful and wise response. As usual you are correct that there is much to consider when estimating the movement of gold. We also have the dreaded echos of war in the background that rise and lower constantly seemingly based on whims and some very serious threats.
