That's what I'm saying. How could there be only five? Someone at the Mint had the ability to produce a 1913 die, only mint five coins, and then they left the Mint to be sold years later. Sounds fishy. I don't believe those coins, and others like them, are legitimate. What if five 1979 Eisenhower Dollars were discovered? Suspicious.

Yeah Sharks2th I know what you mean when it comes to responses and lack of action by the U.S. Mint! I also received both generic and direct responses with “no action” or follow through on them actually correcting or doing what they said they would! My correspondence’s were answered, just “zero” follow through. Why bother answering or responding if you’re not going to ensure that the actions you mention can’t or won’t be taken? A classic case of bad business practice of “over promise, under deliver”! Good businesses do the opposite, “Under Promise, Over Deliver”!. The e-mails I sent that went unanswered completely, were to both Director Ventris Gibson as well as Rosa Williams and pertained to prices announced or “not” announced in the Federal Register and clarification as to the use or lack there of, in using the Federal Federal Register to do so. Guess, like most rules and regulations, they are “meant to be broken” and do not apply to those on pedestal’s?

Craig,

Starting in 2001, the US Mint put strict controls in-place to prevent any further striking errors from leaving their facilities. After 2001, the likelihood of finding any newer off-centered, clipped, or broad struck coins is about nil. About the only thing I see now adays in post 2001 are die cracks, struck thru grease, cuds, and the occasional 5% or less off-center. Maybe they should give Stevie his job back.

Cheers

Rick,

That is definitely a "Rock Star" of an error. As the denomination increases, so does the price. How it got out of the mint could be described as nefarious. PCGS did a great job with the holder. It will probably hammer at $100K+

Cali, the change in prices for the Palladium Eagles are also in this category. No notice in the register. The article I read said the precious metals chart was updated, but I could not find it changed a few months ago, and my complaint to the mint was never clearly answered by the mint. They said they would respond and never did. I have not found a 2025 grid.
