AKBob,

I remember you saying that you and your wife didn’t have any heirs.

I have six custodial accounts that I manage. I’m Not the custodian for all; however, I do manage the accounts as if I were the custodian.

I do a complete turnkey operation for those custodial accounts. Federal Income taxes are included. Each child learned cursive by signing Federal Income tax returns. Every year they are the only children in their class that files a Federal Income tax return.

When they were younger, I purchased Gold for their portfolio and as they have aged, the Gold purchases have morphed into stock purchases. Each have a substantial diversified portfolio for their age.

They are further along financially than I had anticipated, and it is getting harder and harder to manage because of Kiddie Tax laws.

Kiddie Tax only allows so much unearned income yearly for a child and beyond that point the unearned income is taxed at the parent’s marginal tax rate.

Parents are Not happy when they must pay Federal Income tax for their children’s income…

Mr Cag,

Thank you and thank you!! You have inspired me into turning to gold vs silver. I “thot” all I could afford was silver so I became a silver stacker. Mostly ASE’s. I purchased at least 25 rolls of the various Silver Zombucks too. Rolls of the 5 oz bullion pucks as well. A lot of Australian rolls of their various critters, koala, birds, etc. I’ve sold a lot of those rolls. I’ve still got a lot of silver so I’m gearing up to start selling more so I can complete sets three and four of my 20th Anniversary Gold Eagle sets. Then start the fifth and final set. To complete those sets will cost me about $16K - $17K not including set number five! It’s only money right, lol!

As far as Au performing, well, the proofs in the pudding! I too read a great deal about Au & Ag. I’m getting the feeling that Au is going to be the metal you’ll want to be heavily into, at least for now. I don’t pay attention to those so called experts that are always talking Au & Ag as tho it’s going to go thru the roof, any moment, those same experts have been saying that for a couple decades, especially Ag, going up to $100 oz!!! They exaggerate terribly! Those folks are not who I pay attention to. They usually have some skin in the game and want you to buy, buy, buy silver and gold. There’s a time and place when you should invest in them. Silver isn’t the one currently although I thinking it’ll be going up in the somewhat near future. Hopefully for the sake of our fellow silver stackers. I still love, love Ag. By me stacking silver, then selling it for a profit allowed me to get into Au. So I’m a Silver Stacker at Heart, just not presently doing that. Quite the opposite, I’m buying Au, putting my money where my mouth is. I just LOVE Au! I’m hooked. I’m a Gold Bug thru and thru, all because of you, Mr Cag!! I listen to every one of your Posts and I respect your opinions as well as your experience you share when you don’t have to. You’ve helped me more than you could ever know! I couldn’t be Happier by investing in Au (Gold)!!! I owe you one heck of a Steak Dinner!! The funds I use for purchasing gold is my extra money. I’m retired and comfortable. My wife and I live fairly simply. We don’t have any real bad habits, we don’t need much as we really have all we “need”. We have “wants” tho and my biggest want is more Au, lol! Imagine that! Au is what makes me very, very happy. Once I finish my gold projects, I’m thinking about starting a high end Kennedy Half Dollar collection, 1964 - 1970 & 1976 all inspired by E1 and Rick. I’ll probably never completely stop purchasing Au. It just won’t be the volume I’ve been purchasing. Maybe there’ll be a sixth set of that 20th Anniversary
gold Eagle Set!! That gets me excited just thinking about it, lol!! I need to have goals in coin collecting. In the past, I didn't really have any kind or type of collecting, I was just collectin*g and stacking. I’ve got a tote full of silver coins that I look at and I wonder to myself, what in the Hell was I thinking of to make me think I had to purchase it. Some of them make no cents whatsoever! It just boggles the mind! Are there any others out here that have thought the same things? Most likely I’m not alone, lol!!

Anyways, thank you especially Mr Cag, E1, Rick, KCKS, DaveSWFL, Cali, etc, and a very long list of fellow collectors that I listen to and learn from their experiences. Mr Cag, I do really owe you a huge Steak Dinner! You have added so much to my boring life. We have no kids or grandkids so we have very little to no drama, lol! So yes, we have a very boring life!! I’m not complaining however! I have dreams and goals again. I have always been a dreamer and have been goal oriented. My collection is coming together and I’m very proud of it, excluding that darn tote, lol! It’s nothing compared to others but for me, it’s huge. That’s all that matters, my happiness and this Hobby does just that. I wish I had an heir for my collection! That’s the only real sad part about my hobby and coin collection, no one to leave it to. ;(

Mr Cag, I’m ALL EARS, always, so keep your posts, suggestions AND your vast experience you share here as it’s very, very much appreciated by many of us. I don’t always understand what you’re saying but that’s okay. I’m still learning as I go and usually, I understand more and more over time and posts!!!!! It’s never too late to start collecting, stacking & hoarding both Au and Ag!!! If I can do it, anyone can do it. Make a Plan that’s realistic, follow thru with it. Live your Plan and follow thru with it! You’ll succeed if you stick to it! That’s the hard part. Up here in Alaska, our Commercial Fisherman have a saying, “stick and stay, make it pay”! Say it over and over and over! If you say it enough times, you’ll get the results you want and deserve! ;)

Well, as always, Good Luck ALL!!!

AKBob,

Glad to see that you're doing well on completing your sets.
PCGS is the way to go.
I have 6 complete PCGS sets in a specific grade.
Each set is specific to the recipient.
I’m talking about Gold $1, $2.5, $3, $5, $10 and $20. ALL as close to exactly 100 years old from the birth year of the recipient. I’m also talking about exactly 200 year old Silver from the birth year of each recipient. That's the only hope I have to keep the sets from being sold once out of my control. (That and the fact that their stocks and bonds portfolios should take care of all financial needs in the future).

As pertaining to "I'm ALL ears".
Gold has performed in line, as a precious metal, with what should happen considering the circumstances.
Silver has not.
From an investment point of view you want as much certainty as possible. X does this, then A. Not X does this, then B. Gold has given you that certainty and Silver has not.
Since COVID Silver has traded much more like an industrial metal and Not a precious metal. That was expected in twenty years for Silver. Not now.
Gold is moving more and more towards being an asset class. Some opinions that I follow, Ray Dalio and Jeff Gundlach to just name two) believe Gold is already an asset class. That's key.

Keep up the good set building AKBob and I'm glad that you are back posting...

Mr Cag,

I’m ALL ears! I’ve been staying the course, buying more and more gold, an ounce here and an ounce there. My stash is growing! I’m loving it too! I completed my first and second sets. I’m working on sets 3 and 4. The Set I’m talking about is the 2006 - 20th Anniversary “Gold” Eagle Set. It has the Reverse Proof Gold Eagle in it. I’m collecting this set graded by PCGS, PR/MS70’s First Strike, Flag Label, my GoTo Label. For many, many years I had been drooling over that gold reverse proof, thinking I’d never be able to get “it”!! I drooled for many, many years before I pulled the trigger on the Silver Anniversary Set!! Now I have two complete Gold Anniversary Sets!! I’ve also acquired several of the Silver Anniversary Sets as well. I’m working on sets three and four (gold sets). I’ve already got the hard ones in this set and it’s NOT the Reverse Proof, the hard one is the regular Proof. There’s only I believe 232 of the Proofs so that’s the maximum number of sets you could ever complete. I think once I’ve completed the four sets, I’ll do one more set to make it an even five sets. I love this set obviously and by putting these sets together, I’ll have more gold AND I’ll have some great coins to boot! There’s only a few more gold coins I’d like to acquire then I’ll be done for the most part buying gold. I may purchase some here and there if I find something I really like or a “must” have coin(s)!! Like I’ve said numerous times in the past on here, the Premiums on gold produced by the US Mint is just getting too “rich” for my blood and wallet!! It’s pretty simple, Demand Destruction at its Finest! ;(

Well, as always, Good Luck ALL!!!

Wow! The most I ever won was maybe $10. I've given that back many times over, and I don't even play that much. I generally get tired of losing by the time someone hits the big pot.

Prices seemed to slump for the last 9 mos, but it looks like the higher grades are holding strong. E1 was correct, the 'V' has played itself out, and is a legit, limited variety...
