When I bought these and other bags I always got Denver as the mintage is usually lower, but the Quality is much better. Maybe the water in Colorado? That one wild design Cali, sad no Carmen Miranda w a fruit salad hat or Ruth Westhimer with a Steely Dan…..

Under the assumption that regional mints produce to provide coinage for their respective populations, it would make sense for Philly to way out produce Denver. Given weight and security concerns, it is very expensive to ship Denver coinage to the east coast.
That would be my guess

Cali, thanks for all the good info. I knew about the different presses, but it's hard to remember the notes printed on certain presses. For note collectors, sone notes printed on certain presses are worth more due to the limited number of notes printed on those presses. The new presses will create even more variables I'm sure. Usually there is a way to tell which press is used, either with design or by serial number. The randomization of serial numbers could throw a monkey wrench in tracking the press used.

I also use the $2 bills and half dollars for tips and just regular purchases when I do small cash transactions. Some people pay no attention and others will remark on not ever seeing those denominations. I kept the bundle of 2s in sequence I got a few years back. I also used to color in the declaration of Independence on the reverse to know if I had had that 2 before. I stopped doing that since I don't have any trouble getting 2s anytime nowadays.

On topic… One product option that stands out and I’m curious about is the American Women’s Quarters Philadelphia vs Denver 100 coin bags. In all cases for years 2023 through 2025(12 issues total as of now), the Philadelphia option outpaces the Denver option by roughly 200-750 units with the exception of two, that show a considerable difference. The 2023 Edith Kanaka’ole and 2024 Celia Cruz Philadelphia 100 coin bags outpace Denver by 2,846 and 1,599 respectively. Another that is currently showing a larger gap is the 2025 Juliette Gordon Low at 1,124. The 2024 Zitkala-Ša Quarters have the narrowest gap, at just 184. So again 9 of the 12 issues making up years 2023-2025 have a gap difference from Philadelphia to Denver, showing roughly 200-700, excluding the 3 I’ve highlighted. Just kind of makes me wonder what or why the Edith Kanaka’ole, Celia Cruz and Juliette Gordon Low have sold so many more Philadelphia 100 coin bags vs the other 9 AWQ’s issued during the time period I’ve noted?

If you want an even deeper dive into Federal Reserve Note production and processes, check out this, FOIA Request(link below) for information from the BEP. Document title: “Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) printed tour narrative/spiel for the District of Columbia Tour, 2018” excerpt: “The bureau has three Simultan presses in DC and three in our Texas facility.” They also mention or refer to, “the BEP’s Super Orlof Intaglio printing presses for currency production.” By the way, Suoer Orlof Intaglio is a trademark of Koenig and Bauer Banknote Solutions. Quite a fascinating bit of information in this FOIA document IMO. Side “noteworthy”! “Gualtiero Giori presented the first prototype(1956) of the very first Simultan.” Also of note: “In 1951, Giori founded his own security printing company, Giori SA. In 1952, the next year he entered into a collaborative agreement with Koenig and Bauer…..” who’d eventually acquire Giori SA in 2001. PS Below is an image of “The Project Mercury stamp of 1962, one of the first US postage stamps printed on a Giori Press.”

Buying BitCoin for a US Sovereign fund is ridiculous. Picking winners and losers, what about the “digital dollar” wouldn’t that be where to put the $. Surprised Trump would pick a ex Soros $ manager. But, he’s better than he baffoon who served a Treasury Sec in Tr I administration

Sharks2th, East Coast Guru, DaveSWFL and others interested in Star Notes and or currency. Yesterdays(4/16/25), “noteworthy” communication, from “The Federal Reserve”, titled: “United States Currency Program to Produce Nonsequential $20 Strap”. Excerpts from FRBServices dot org and link below.

“The USCP’s(United States Currency Program) new equipment does not produce the star notes that replace imperfect notes in a strap of Federal Reserve notes. However, traditional banknote production equipment will continue to produce star notes until further notice.
All Federal Reserve notes, including star notes, will remain legal tender and worth face value regardless of when they were issued.” The older intaglio presses at some point, no doubt will become obsolete. Unless mistaken the new presses were manufactured by Koenig and Bauer Banknote Solutions, out of Lausanne Switzerland. Read more about the BEP’s Intaglio presses at the BEP dot gov site by searching for “The Buck Starts Here: How Money is Made”.
