I recently picked up this ’64-D MS-66+ (below) to jump-in with my toner set. It was a good price, and below retail, but…
After seeing it in hand, I had realized that it had ‘whispered’ to me to buy, not ‘speak’ to me…
It’s a decent coin I think, but it has just a little too much spotty brown/tan “Russet” Toning going on, as REB knows what I mean. A bit more rainbow might help?
So, for the time being, I do have a ’64-D in 6+, but it’s days are numbered? Not sure yet. We’ll see…

I’ve been looking at the std die coins of the ’64-D, solely based upon the number of higher grade coins that hit the market occasionally, more selection, as the TPG chart shows. I’m on the hunt for the MS-67’s if possible. With the very limited numbers of DDO’s, etc, finding one in 67 looks to be a challenge. However, I’m totally open to buy an MS-65-66 DDO if the coin fit’s the bill, and if it ‘speaks’ to me lol…

I’m waiting to see what you do with the 1964-D. All of those double, triple, and quad dies to choose from. Or will you go with a normal die. Only one normal die strike in PCGS MS-68 for the 1964-D.

True Shark, not much going on in the bag mark dept at all. There is a couple of them on the back, and the one on the front as JQ described as a shaving nick.
There’s some rub & slight chatter on the usual high spots, and an abrasion in front of his face, but very mild. I think it just eked out the 67. There are 80 coins in an MS67, and just 7 coins in a 67+, and I’m on the hunt for one of those. We’ll see…

You may want to put that proof set into intercept shield holders with the ring to protect them from tarnishing if the cello is falling apart. You could also put the entire cello into an intercept bag used for jewelry. The bags come in different sizes. There are occasional problems with the zip lock on the bags separating.

Cool. I didn’t see many marks on that one. It’s really nice.

Tomasaka has been around for a long long time. I had purchased a number of coins from him back in the 90’s. You will always get a first class problem free coin from him, but you will pay top dollar. I used to chat it up over the phone with his brother Gary about conservation. I got a lot of good information from Gary back in the day. Now I don’t know where he is.

Thanks Buddy, the OGP ’53 PF set was more of an impulse buy, and has a nostalgic vibe to it. When looking at the mid to upper grades in CAM(like your coin), the valuation is strong. I’ll let it sit for a bit, no hurry on what’s next for the set.
I’m not really pursuing Proof/Cameo halfs at this time, but they sure are enticing and pretty. I’m still on the lookout for a ’64 Accented Hair in CAM/DCAM, same with a nice & clean ’76-S Silver DCAM Half. The MS-Silver Kennedy’s are keeping me occupied for now, and thanks for the Half Dollar inspiration!
