That assumes my representative cares or even represents me. None has done anything I’ve suggested. Generally, they do completely the opposite.

Oh well, It’s not like I’m looking to punch these things into a Whitman holder. I typically only pay attention to the designs when I examine the silver proof set.

Major D, did you ever watch The Twilight Zone 1985 episode “Profile in Silver” which has a connection to the 1964 Silver Kennedy Half Dollar?

i think they wanted to do dogs of each state or something like that but because 2026 would fall in the middle of that 10-year run, they shifted to women quarters (nearly done) and then came up with youth sports after that to fill in the gap before the 10 years are up.

but seriously, the mint is only doing it because congress passed a law requiring the mint to do it. by default, the mint can’t change designs for 25 years, but congress can (and did) override that. if you really don’t like it, let your representative know, otherwise they will almost certainly cook up another one before you know it.

My problem is not with the theme, it’s just that there have been too many designs on the reverse of the quarter for the last 2 1/2 decades. With the state quarters, it was a new and exciting idea. At this point, very few actually look at a quarter anymore. The concept is old and stale. There are simply too many quarters with different reverses out there.

I think it’s time to at least cut the number of designs. Maybe one per year? Or how about one design per mint? Or perhaps one design per denomination (penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and half dollar)?

I like the idea of getting kids back into looking at coinage, but it shouldn’t be so confusing and frustrating. Back in the penny-collecting days of my youth, I only had to worry about three different cents per year (the P, D, S). Now, with five designs and three mints, that’s 15 quarters a year! Throw in the confusion of multiple earlier issues (and today’s attention problems), and the task of collecting becomes staggering and off-putting.

Just my 25 cents.
