Considering there was no widespread internet, in 1980 and yet so many knew about the price of silver then, I believe speaks volumes to the benchmark it set then. However, please note that the all time record high silver price was hit on April 28, 2011, with silver spot price reaching $49.58 oz intraday and closing at $48.70 in London LBMA. The silver spot price rose above $40 on April 8, 2011, closing at $40.22, and stayed above $40 through May 4, 2011, when it closed at $40.29.]]></description>
