In throwing in my last $.02 on the topic of the Working Dogs Commemorative coins, there is only one potential saving grace that could be used to give the coins a potential small boost in sales? This caveat, that has been written into the legislation. “The measure calls for all products to be issued by one mint.” This does not stipulate that W has to be used. If they chose D to be the Mint used exclusively, this would perhaps create a unique offering that typically has not been used to produce gold or silver commemoratives, if my memory serves me correctly? Typically, at least as of late, W has minted the gold commemoratives for the most part and P is often the Mint of choice for the silver, with D and S producing the clad halves in uncirculated and proof finishes respectively. Wonder if any at the Mint production team is able to see or come up with this anomaly? Ponder… The Mint mark doesn’t make a huge difference, however to a discerning collector looking at each coin issued, from as many angles as possible, it may help? Or possibly bring out the lasers and issuing “Enhanced Proofs and Enhanced Uncirculated finishes may do the trick? The coin designs that’ll be chosen would more than likely, be good candidates for a multi/enhanced Unc/PF finish IMO.
