Instead of using Lincoln and Jefferson on the one and five cent coins, let’s try and be creative. Why not use the versions of the dime that will not be used-to create a new cent and a new nickel for 2026.
For the ONE CENT coin-a modified version of dime O-02 with Liberty straightened out.
For t FIVE CENT COIN-the CCAC recommendation for the dime O-03.
And for the DIME, the CFA recommendation

on a recent topic of eliminating the cent:
An open letter to Iowa Senator Joni Ernst.
Senator Ernst. You spoke of eliminating the one cent coin that costs 3 cents to make. Well let me put in my 2 cents.
Don’t take away our one cent coins.
The European Union has a 2¢ coin.
We could do the same thing in the USA. Reduce one cent coin production by HALF, and then issue a 2¢ coin to make up the difference. Using Senator Ernst statement that each coin costs 3¢, for every 100 one cent coins issued, at a current cost of $3, by issuing a 2¢ coin we could make 50, one cent coins ($1.50), and supplement them with 25-2¢ coins (75¢). The $3 cost is now $2.25, so we have already saved 75¢ by using only 75 coin blanks instead of 100.
Additionally, to raise money to pay for the smaller denomination coins that poor people, who are not making $174,000.00 a year, use, we could issue circulating $2 and $5 ringed bimetallic coins to raise money. They would be sold in coin sets at face value-plus costs. For every million sets sold, there would be SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS raised that can be used to pay for copper, zinc and nickel.
NOTE:The $2 and $5 coins-while being circulating commerce, ARE NOT TO REPLACE THEIR PAPER COUNTERPARTS!
The goal of these new coins is to raise money!
Any money saved by eliminating the one cent coin would be wasted before the ink on the legislation was dry. If members of congress really wanted to save the USA money, they would ACTUALLY read all of the bills they voted on.
All of you have green ink on your hands when you vote for wasteful bills that you don’t even read.
Billions upon Billions of dollars could be saved if each bill was read, and voted on separately.
If members of congress REALLY wanted to save the USA money, they would get off of the government gravy train after leaving office. You get paid plenty while in your office $174,000.00. YOU DO NOT DESERVE TO BE PAID FOR LIFE! Members of congress treat themselves like Kings and Queens! We are not a monarchy.

O-03 and R-03. When is the US Mint going to fix its website. The Circulating coins section is totally hosed: The Women's Quarters are found under the America the Beautiful. the AWQ is empty of entries; The circulating coins has data that was from July and is missing all the intervening months. It takes six refreshes to go from the top of the schedule (January) to the last entry (Dec.). I am tired of the stupid, comic book, and UGLY designs. This is the 250th Anniversary of the USA! We need to celebrate the historical designs. We have ruined enough coinage with poor quality and poor designs.

Dave,

The 43 S is under graded and has a whopper of a strike. Note the full thumb. The surfaces are remarkably clean too.

Thanks

Wow! Beauties, for sure. Is it camera angle, etc, or does the 1943 have a great deal more detail than the 1945? Same grade, but I’d buy the ‘43 over the ‘45 all day long at the same price point.
