Ha ha ha Kaiser - ;-)

I'm tired of all the dead space / void in medals. Coins fill that area up w/their value, etc. US Mint can do so much more w/medal designs occupying the dead space.

If the silver medal is $75 or less I'll purchase, but not at $104 or even $90.

c_q, you are pretty much spot on IMO. Many times the artist drawing just do not translate well when it comes to die prep, execution and engraving. Plus, once you consider the relative small size of a 1/2oz gold coin, the reverse designs and even the obverse for that matter are a bit “too busy”. Once in hand you end up having to use a magnifying glass to make out the details. A way the Mint could try to help out with this problem, particularly on these Superman issues would be to make them “enhanced”, using multiple finishes, so the eyes pick up more of a contrast. Much like what they did with the Mark Twain commemorative gold coins as well as a few other examples over the years. The link below will show what I’m referring to for any unfamiliar or those that may want to refresh their memory. Thanks AKBob. PCGS makes mistakes all the time. This one is just bigger than the rest of them in my case...
I'll let the 2 other parties know what happened, and we'll see what they say.
The policies that they have in place cover themselves outright. They missed the error, and so did I. Bad on them. Bad on me. One way or another it'll work out with this coin...
PCGS made the mistake originally, and everyone else after that became complacent, even PCGS on the reholder of the same coin!
People can parce my statements and backseat drive all that they want about this situation and what they would, or wouldn't do. I can appreciate that as well actually, so have at it!
I'm looking at GC auctions and checking the coins against PCGS/TPG data right now, couldn't be in a better place at the moment.
There are no grudges on my end. "Happy coin escape club" As E1 once said....

Rick,

Yes, I remember Evil Flipper over on MNB! He wasn’t posting anything the last few years of MNB if I remember correctly. Yes, again, I learned a great deal reading and contributing to MNB. I still miss it. There were quite a few characters on MNB. I remember when there were a couple Bullies on there two, many years ago! I’ll bet there were collectors that stopped reading MNB just because of the “meanness” of a couple/few participants. I enjoy flipping, nothing like patting yourself on the back when you get a Homerun, like Ricks 2020 v75 Gold Eagle! That was a Grand Slam!! You took a huge risk and it’s really paid off in Spades or should I say “Benjamin’s”)!!! I had to do some flipping in order to purchase coins, primarily Mint releases. My income at the time did NOT allow a coin collecting budget. So I had to get creative. So I started doing some flipping. It’s worked out very well for me too. I was able to do some Silver Stacking as Gold coins were out of the question at the time. So over the years, I acquired a lot of Silver. Then CAG came along, lol! Any folks here that know Cag, knows he’s a Gold Bug! I read everything he said. I paid attention too! Cag got me started purchasing Gold, 1/10th oz coins at first. I thot I was a big spender buying 1/10th oz gold, lol! It was a huge deal for me. I had never even held a 1 oz gold coin till 4 or 5 years ago! Boy, that was a “kewl” feeling! I still get just as excited when I purchase a 1/10th oz gold coin as I do a 1 oz coin. Cag used to say in regards to the Mint, “more and more gimmicks, higher and higher prices, lower and lower mintages”! I think he’s going to be correct. Cag also got me into Pre ‘33 gold. So, I’ve learned a great deal reading MNB and Coin News, also, one other thing, by participating in sharing things here, you learn more and more. Don’t just read the articles and the Posts from us fellow collectors. We encourage ALL others to please join in here. You can see, no ones going to bite your head off, lol! ;)

Well, as always, Good Luck ALL!!!

Rick,

I thot I had problems with PCGS but I think yours is much worse than mine were. Although PCGS made mistake after mistake with my coins, I persevered thru it, letting most of their mistakes just go by the wayside, I didn't want to have to deal with PCGS any longer in regards to the 68 coins I sent into them this past Spring! I am still quite miffed (that’s putting it mildly only because there’s young collectors that reading this) at PCGS. So man6 mistakes and errors with the coins I sent in. The biggest mistake they did that didn’t get corrected was they didn’t encapsulate my signed COA from a 2019 S ERP ASE. That will cost me money as now, even if I get the COA encapsulated, it won’t have the matching COA Number with the graded coin. At the time, I had made so many phone calls to PCGS, always talked to a different person for so many mistakes PCGS made, I was worn down. I’m not very proud of myself as I should have pursued it. Calling PCGS is like calling your Health Insurance Company because they won’t cover a certain procedure or whatever the case may be. I just HATE making those calls. Live and learn!

I can’t tell you Rick just how sorry I am about this conundrum you are in! I feel for You! Just know myself and most all others here are hoping it gets resolved in a positive manner that makes you “whole” again!! I get what you’re sayin about this situation. It’s very easy for folks (myself included) to say do this and/or do that but it’s just not that easy, is it? Whatever you do, I’m sure it’ll be what’s right for You. Here’s hoping to a good resolution to your problem! Cheers as E1 would say My Friend!!
