Exactly. And while we are on the subject of copper, in a SHTF scenario, insulated copper wire, tube and pipe will be far more valuble then copper rounds or bars. Buying them in such a useless form to be a "barter" item or an investment is nothing but a scam. Cali good luck with getting so much as to even an acknowledgment from Major D on the 10's of Millions of 2023 circulating Kennedy's bought from the Fed that are now missing...
I tried at least twice and I was ignored...Major D here's your chance?

That spin from the “United States Mint’s internal control" is a good one I'll admit..
How many times do they say weaknesses, deficiencies, and compliance--Quickly now! Don't peek!

However, spin is an interesting function we're all guilty of from time to time........

I’ll leave you with this one for now Major D: “CaliSkier says
MAY 12, 2023 AT 7:37 PM
Probably, didn’t test any internal controls?
“United States Mint’s internal control. We did not test all internal controls relevant to operating objectives as broadly defined by the Federal Managers’ Financial Integrity Act of 1982.
A deficiency in internal control exists when the design or operation of a control does not allow management or employees, in the normal course of performing their assigned functions, to prevent, or detect and correct, misstatements on a timely basis. A material weakness is a deficiency, or a combination of deficiencies, in internal control, such that there is a reasonable possibility that a material misstatement of the entity’s financial statements will not be prevented, or detected and corrected, on a timely basis. A significant deficiency is a deficiency, or a combination of deficiencies, in internal control that is less severe than a material weakness, yet important enough to merit attention by those charged with governance.
Our consideration of internal control was for the limited purpose described in the first paragraph of this section and was not designed to identify all deficiencies in internal control that might be material weaknesses or significant deficiencies. Given these limitations, during our audit we did not identify any deficiencies in internal control that we consider to be material weaknesses. However, material weaknesses or significant deficiencies may exist that were not identified.
Report on Compliance and Other Matters
As part of obtaining reasonable assurance about whether the United States Mint’s financial statements as of and for the year ended September 30, 2022 are free from material misstatement, we performed tests of its compliance with certain provisions of laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements, noncompliance with which could have a direct and material effect on the financial statements. However, providing an opinion on compliance with those provisions was not an objective of our audit, and accordingly, we do not express such an opinion. The results of our tests disclosed no instances of noncompliance or other matters that are required to be reported under Government Auditing Standards or OMB Bulletin No. 22-01.
Purpose of the Reporting Required by Government Auditing Standards
The purpose of the communication described in the Report on Internal Control Over Financial Reporting and the Report on Compliance and Other Matters sections is solely to describe the scope of our testing of internal control and compliance and the results of that testing, and not to provide an opinion on the effectiveness of the United States Mint’s internal control or compliance. Accordingly, this communication is not suitable for any other purpose.”
Man is the system “Lucky” people are so preoccupied and stupid, because if they had even kind of sort of a collective clue, I literally could make a killing on “Mile of Tines” pitch fork sales! Just , “Stack em’ Up”! Just like a line of “Long Spears”!”
PS There we’re another 4 or so after this, ending at 9:05, with the last MNB reply to my rants coming in at 11:44 from DaveSWFL. Let me know if any of you would like to see any of the 20 other KPMG posts from that day.
PSS DaveSWFL closed it out(11:44), wrote: “Cali,
Hope you can sleep tonight – you’re really wound up on these accounting firms. Don’t even start looking into bank fines! “Highly” regulated, yet huge fines!”

Cag, since none of this numbers stuff dazes you, can you please explain the benefit and to what purpose KPMG, serves the US Mint?
Because after reading the Annual Report and what it is they are doing or performing for the US Mint, this appears to be just a simple “check the box” we did it, type exercise in futility?
Meaning the outside audit is performed, due to regulation, however nothing gets reported; fixed, altered, improved; etc, etc, etc???
The best checks and balances ever! Write us a check and we will sign off, that everything appears as it seems? Totally Freaking Crazy!
Talk about a “racket/SCAM”!!!
Yep, everything’s looks like it’s covered up, carry on!”
PS You all can thank me for not posting those 15 KPMG posts between 1:11-7:05 on 5/12/23! LOL

My KPMG introduction and impetus for a serious “deep dive” last year(MNB), began with the following: “Transparency or lack thereof at the US Mint. 2023 Kennedy halves.
CaliSkier says(reply to IJTR)
MAY 12, 2023 AT 1:01 PM
IJTR says: “If there are going to be millions shipped to the banks, that fact should be disclosed in advance of the collector coin release date.”

LOL Thanks for the comic relief(IJTR)! Yeah, the Mint will get right on that! LOL Wait, I’m sorry for laughing, the US Mint has really been super, up front, honest, accurate, timely, forthcoming as well as transparent these past many years: Bwaaahaha! LOL
Surely you jest?
Just know that the numbers we’ve been given indicate; one of 2 things? Either the Fed will be or has already ordered 2023 Kennedy Half dollars for circulation, which other than additional rough handling are the same as what collector/US Mint customers receive. Or? The US Mint has hit the wrong button or numbers for production and will be destroying/waffling a plethora of brand new 2023 Kennedy Half dollars.
Although I, think the US Mint is overall, poorly run, makes bad decisions, makes no decisions, has piss poor communication skills, I just don’t think, even they are so inept to produce and destroy +- 5.6 million 2023 dated Kennedy Half dollars.
Maybe this is, just being used as a simple accounting, “statistical” Seignorage play???
PS I’m in complete agreement that the Mint should disclose this information, however there is a much “Better Chance” that Silicon Valley Bank, First Republic and Signature Bank, re-open for business, after finding out their accountants misplaced some “zeros”, this coming Monday IMO!
PSS Same company(KPMG) that does the US Mints annual reports/audits, is the same one linked to these above Bank Failures.”

Major D says: “I’ve railed against the Mint myself on certain things, but c’mon everyone- let’s actually be educated about this, and the economics” I will try hard to not repost all the close to 8 hours of non stop rants I posted on Mint News Blog in May of last year.(probably 10+(?), actual 22! Haha KPMG related posts) regarding the US Mint Annual Reports and the auditing of said reports. You might just want to get educated about and fully familiarize yourself with the US Mint audit company, KPMG, if not already up to speed? Let me know if you’d like to see more than my next 3 posts. As I became quite and thoroughly aware of Big 4 Auditing, accounting, “accountability”(lack thereof) practices last year. They(KPMG) have been involved in literally Billions of dollars worth of law suits and settlement judgments against them for shady and shoddy practices! All over the world, literally. Canada, USA, China, India, UK, Germany, just to nam a few. W/O reposting 8 hours of posts as I did last year, I’ll start with just 3 posts, not hours(LOL), back to back to back for an appetizer..
