Thx Craig! I think your right about the price on those RP Buffalos! I too love that coin. I’ll be purchasing one of them most likely in the future. I now wish I still had them, obviously, lol! My wife gets the credit for coming up with Dogters for our female dogs. I liked the Dachsons you are calling them now too if you do!! I have been miffed a few times with the Mint but that back in ‘13 they had me more than miffed. Fortunately, I have a good heart in more ways than none! Glad to see you making comments here.

Well, as always, Good Luck ALL!!!

AkBob,
You need to learn how to control your anger, especially dealing with the mint. They are a government entity after all and you don't want to give yourself a heart attack over them...Lol. Sorry to hear you returned those 5 RP Buffaloes as mine are some of my favourite gold coins in my safe. If I remember correctly, they were $1640 each, that'll buy you a 1/2 oz AGE these days. BTW, I liked your 'dogster' word used in another post for your dog daughters. I guess I have two dachsons in my family.

Tony@GA, I couldn’t agree more with You!!! I can’t tell you just how disappointed I am! I did NOT think (Dumb*** me) the US Mint would do that! After the ordering period ended, the Mint went to “SOLD OUT” and when that happened, I was very happy the Mint was doing the “right” thing!! I guess I was a bit optimistic in that way of thinking. Shame on me! “Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice, Shame on me”!! I too feel cheated Tony!! I can’t remember exactly what happened but back in ‘13, the Rev Proof Buffalo came out and there was an ordering window, or something, I know I purchased 5 of them. Anyways, the Mint did something I didn’t like so I sold and/or sent back all 5 of them! Course now I wish I had them, lol! I was so miffed at the Mint, I went about 7-8 years without purchasing anything from the Mint, ya, that’s how miffed I was! I was done, stick a fork in the Mint!!

Rick, I also agree with you on the Lib/Brit (Gold) as to whether it’s a “hit” or a “miss”!!! So far, I’m going with, “it’s a sleeper”! I’m trying to be optimistic! I doubt it’ll be another Bronco but I thought it would have an upside faster than usual. I think I could be wrong but I’m going to stay strong and “Hope” like hell it does go up in value. Time will tell. I appreciate your honest evaluation on this coin as well. I have been thinking the same as You but my optimism is waiting, sadly!!

Well, as always, Goid Luck ALL!!!

There is some backlash, some coin addiction, some seeking opportunity. That is what makes this discussion so interesting. For me I was interested in the Liberty and Britannia design more than anything else. The gold was to expensive of a route to the L&B design and the silver was a medal and not a coin. So my plan was picking up a nice version Royal Mint bullion coin which I did.

I still have the same opinion about medals, but I caved for the Bucking Bronco Liberty medal. I think I will do the same for the 230th Anniv. Flowing Hair medal. Who knows maybe the Perth Mint will do a boutique bullion coin version of Flowing Hair. JK :-)

Yeah, you're probably right on that one. Ryder shook things up now and again. I mistakenly thought that the big V was giving it a go.
Slick Willie would be shunned today for what used to be common sense beliefs.

Conjuring up Ryder as a hero (vs V) reminds me of the day I came to realize Slick Willie wasn’t such a bad deal after all.
I pretty much gave up on the U.S. Mint when they consistently violated their return policy for the big boys and raised premiums beyond acceptable limits.
My mantra since has been “Bullion, baby, BULLION!!!!!”

Then REB says.
"Very interesting. The link is reading sold out but the price change would suggest that they’re selling/have sold/will sell them again. So much for the window?"

Yep. This move today reveals what they are all about.
I'll bet you anything they have, or will get some serious backlash for this.

Ryder would've put her in the corner. With a Dunce Cap.

May 15, 2024--USM Sales Report article;

(REB says)
"The L&B Gold lost 15 more coins. How low can they go?"

(Rick says) REB @ L&B,
"Wait until the Mint starts to ship them(on 5/25 +/- ?)
Then look out. There will no doubt be Mint cancellations due to CC expiration/other CC issues…Then come the(slabber-69) returns in the 2-3 weeks following shipping…Watch that coin at the Mint site(Cali)…
My next question is this;
1) Will the Mint allow the CC rejects be sold to the “notify me” customers? Yes I think so…
2) Will the Mint allow the returns/rejects to then be sold to the “notify me” customers? Yes I think so…But wish that they would NOT–If they kept the returns to themselves(for whatever reason), that equates to hundreds less on the sales figures–even below 5000 pcs.(optimistically/IMO thinking on my part)…"

(Kaiser says)
"Rick,
I like your positive-minded ideas for the ideal disposition of the coins returned to the Mint for credit card failures and less than 70 gradability, but I also agree with your supposition that none of that optimism will be realized."

A couple of days later;
(Rick says)
"So now the Mint has the Lib/Brit Gold Coin price back up at the current price tier. I don’t know when they put it back, or if it even matters now? For several weeks prior it had shown TBD(To Be Determined)in its place…
I’d speculate that the price reappearance does matter. Now that they’re being processed & shipped there will be cancellations from the Mint for various reasons. Then the returns/rejects will come back to the Mint. Then what? That is the question…
Pure speculation and selfishly I hope I’m wrong, but keep an eye out for the “remind me” option to buy one(Silver & Gold). You’ll pay $300 more for the Gold than in Feb. But you may get one ‘on the cheap’ lol…⚆_⚆"

Right now Rick says,

Tony@GA, thanks for the SAD and assuredly infuriating news from our US Mint. I am shocked that they did this to their customers.(Screwed Again!) Although they will just be exhausting inventory ordered, then returned/canceled due to a myriad of reasons, doing so risks, further alienating what’s left of the, “Old Guard”. This move even upsets me and I have “no dog” in the fight. Now, let’s see how they handle that “Flowing Hair” release? Another 30 day window and resale after, until inventory is exhausted? How, who, when, can anyone actually, “trust”, what is regurgitated from the US Mints mouth? Their track record continues to gain, “out of control” momentum IMO, on a steep downward grade of a greased track! Definitely no FOMO here and now grateful I’m virtually done purchasing modern baubles, from our US Mint! Guess, there in theory will not be any Liberty and Britannia products, showing up on the 2024 Cyber Monday sale? Anyone surprised that if typing vault into a search at the USM, one can still access the products page for the 2023 Cyber Monday Vault sale? It’s rapidly coming up on 7 months that they’ve had this page, “live”. Stick a fork in it, for crying out loud. Detrash, melt and move on, sheesh. It’s not as if they are losing money by not charging enough initially? Here come those 2024/2025 bonuses and wage increases, all around, no matter the performance, nor number of “errors”. Equity and Inclusion at its finest! Not LOL, SMH…IMO, the US Mint makes another, LAME move!
