Thanks for the information and the well-reasoned buying strategy. Unfortunately, I'm not that disciplined or patient. I can't wait. I have to have the coins NOW. I respect your approach. I just can't get myself to do it.

REB that's it! I, speaking for myself had not known this until today. The two coins above were random purchases. My V submission(up top)was sent back to me like that--proper face forward/up. It is their default placement of the coin. I asked for the coin to be graded--that's it. Apparently one can request the coin to be reverse forward/up. No charge whatsoever. No price is listed for a simple flip of the coin on their forms either. It makes perfect sense now to request to place the reverse forward when you look at all of the special offerings for the presentation of;
1) Lyndall Bass special labels(1C Shield designer).
2) 2009 Lincoln 1C(4 different reverses), (E1 Lincoln album), etc.
3) All of the special Satin 1C Shield offerings.
4) 2017 Enhanced 1C coin shield forward, etc., etc....
I never knew all you had to do was ask? Not that I want it...
I think you can do it(in most cases)with any coin to highlight the reverse....

Seven of the top 10 sellers are dated before 2024? The storage facilities for the Mint must be larger than Amazon's and Wal-Mart's.

Come on, Mint, start melting this stuff down. If I were a dealer, I'd resent competing with the Mint for older coin sales.

That's it? And how much are you paying for this "service"? The default should be obverse up. The person submitting the coin should have to specifically request anything that deviates from the default.

I went to the new article and explained, had a link & photo, but no go. It's held up for approval. You'll probably see it tomorrow over there?
So here's the short version...
(Me) "When grading and encapsulating the 2023 Extra "V" 1C. Why is it that the obverse of the coin is displayed on the front of the holder(label side) on some of these, but on other examples the reverse is displayed on the front of the holder(label side)?" See photo, Thanks
(PCGS) " Hello Rick,
Thank you for reaching out to PCGS Customer Care.
There are customers that personally request for the reverse to be shown. It is at the leisure of the coin owner on how they would like it to be presented. You are welcome to note on your submission form if you would like the reverse showing. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
Kind Regards, Isidro G."

Rick,

Staying tuned. I sure would like to hear the explanation to that one. NGC did the same thing.

Agree. Very odd. Especially since the extra V is the main event and is on the obverse to boot. Perhaps at PCGS there is an open keg of beer in the lunch room which they are imbibing a bit to much during the grading day.
