Gold coins buy/sell usually w a spread of a few % points. Collector coins check Greysheet values for a starter & there used to be a spread now it says a price w provisional info as to what dealers want or pay as % used to be 10% back & 10% for sale 20% spread, they’ve enlarged since Covid….

A loaded question, and I’m not an expert as a disclaimer. The dealers/flippers/experts may chime in hopefully..There are a lot of ‘it depends’ factors. I would say that the process of selling is straightforward. Research what it’s worth, choose to have it certified, or leave it raw. That sometimes can make a substantial difference. There are many online auction houses, and many dealers to sell it for you. I personally would leave a dealer out of it. I’m the dealer. As others have stated, you can come up with your own LLC to help write off expenses. Other than a private sale or trade, taxes will be imposed whether a CG or just plain income to report. Numi factors are a big deal. A 1 oz Gold bar will sell for spot, while a high grade 1899 Liberty $2.5 coin with barely 4 grams of Gold, Mintage @27k will sell for 5k. You can pick them up for $2800-2900 elsewhere, if you like the design. It’s not my ‘cup of tea’ but it is gold. As a gold coin collector, all of my collection has appreciated nicely over the years. With our ND in overdrive to 36T and beyond, $3000/oz for gold doesn’t sound extreme.

Smart Man. It won’t be as fun next year. Everything is way up $$..Almost out of control really. Our first house, not far from us was a great starter home. A small 950 sq ft 2 brm ranch & bmt. In 1993 it was $84k. We moved & sold in 2001 at $190k.
