Allan Shepard, John Glenn, or Neil Armstrong are all worthy candidates for the half in my book. I think legislation has already decided on rotating reverses for the Kennedy half in 2026. For me, I won't be attending the circus.

1776-1976 S Dual Date Bicentennial Silver UNC Kennedy Half Dollar

This can be a stunningly beautiful coin, providing the grade is MS-68 and above. At MS-68, a dimension opens, allowing for a greater appreciation of this silver clad coin. MS-69 is another level that most can’t find or afford either. At these high grades, we can see the beauty and realize the amount of effort put into this special dual date celebratory coin while struck in 40% silver. The simplicity of the reverse design addresses the theme of independence completely. The dual date on the obverse – equally so. The only drawback to this coin is its mintage of 11M coins. This uncirculated silver coin was not struck for circulation and was only available in an Uncirculated Three Coin Silver Mint Set known as the Red Pack. Therefore, a large number were available to collectors, and they were most likely kept in quantity. Look for raw specimens in OGP that are still clean as a whistle, mark free, and deeply struck. Since this coin has a pastel-like flat surface finish, no PLs or DMPLs have been certified. A small number of double die obverse specimens exist.

Grandpa's stash raided & spent? Or just spent by heirs who didn't know any better, or didn't care? Probably not much upside given Mintages? I ask out of ignorance..I did, back in 2009--2012 buy P&D bags on a hunch from someone in a blog that thought that the series would end at any time--And here we are--still...

Below is a copy/paste comment from the Perth article(yesterday)on the status of my Unc-P. I'm updating over there as things come in..Major D, you could very well have one of these $ grades, if not better...

"<span>Here’s my latest result. This one was a re-holder(why do people treat slabs so badly?)</span>
<span>These Clad coins were so prone to spots/rinse/haze, etc.(thanks for the warning E1)that there are no SP-70’s and scarce SP-69’s, so I’m happy to have one, given my purchase price of $300, I thought of it as a decent buy IMO….</span>
