Here's my latest result. This one was a re-holder(why do people treat slabs so badly?)
These Clad coins were so prone to spots/rinse/haze, etc.(thanks for the warning E1)that there are no SP-70's and scarce SP-69's, so I'm happy to have one, given my purchase price of $300, I thought of it as a decent buy IMO....

I compiled a list of my recent PCGS coin show submissions and the Jury is still out on most of them. AKBob thanks for sharing your recent submissions & results! It’s been fun so far!
I’m authenticating/grading some of my raw coins. No more bulky OGP. Down the road, my family can easily combine these certified coins with my other graded coins. They will send them off to Ian Russell for auction if they wish, or keep some/all of them. They know nothing about coins & values but I’ll show them the basics of certification verification & recent sales. I’ll set up the software/excel list so they can see what’s up. I’ll give them a Treasure Hunt Map as well?-lol. This move is a ‘just in case’ scenario in case I check out!
Many of these coins are familiar. Many are boring, but hey? However, there may be a couple of coins that pique your interest. They are all Moderns. There are 4 raw Lincoln Cents that I’m having some fun with. We’ll see how that one goes? lol...
I’ll list the coins by date. The (**) indicates that I forgot my anticipated grade (I didn’t jot it down either), so they will be put in the -69-grade expectation. A couple of coins I know are -69. I’ll see if I can link up something to look at. I like the Unc Commems for their lower Mintages. FWIW…

An interesting fact to note I've just found, and contradictory to the face forward theory is..; The NGC -67 coin linked above, with the face forward was encapsulated on 9/11/23. While my coin(linked below)-with the First Release ID, and a backward face was encapsulated on 6/27/23. So everything is bass-ackwards with these coins, and the face forward theory.....

I wonder if you can request a face forward? I doubt it, but hey?...

It is odd. I really didn't buy it for the label, I bought it for the V. The label was an afterthought honestly. If they can ID Major D's NGC stickered Proof sets down to the exact number, why not this coin? I suspect it was a mistake. I'd like to hear back from them after proving(to them) that they keep track of label varieties, we'll see.
All of the TPG's faced them forward early. I have ANACS, and PCGS V's from Santiago's early submissions. There are some other early V's for sale as we speak...

Rick,

There is something weird about that coin. Just be happy that you own it and leave it at that. The two that I have, the obverse is facing forward, and these are the only ones that I have ever seen certified that way by NGC. I suspect they were the earliest certified NGC Extra Vs and yet no ER designation. You got the Extra V "Money Coin" for sure.

E1, Thanks for your updated report on the 2023 Extra "V" 1C Variety...
Sorry for the long post everyone. However some might find something of interest later in my post--You E1, Major D, Cali, TonyGA too? We discussed Major D's NGC Gem Proof Mint Set(see photo)--But first give me a minute...
Back to the V's..The recent uptick in the authentication & grading of these V coins is noticeable, but not entirely surprising to me. I suspect that most, if not all are from people who bought raw/secondary coins in the marketplace. Especially given that there were many in the MS-62-65 range. Some could be wild finds though? I myself submitted a raw V 1C in March at the show along with the other raw coins rattling around in my pocket...
We'll see how that one grades out lol..⚆_⚆?..Pretty soon bud...
E1 says,
"One NGC Early Release Extra V has been reported/verified on the MNB and yet the NGC Population Report STILL does not reflect this coin. Nor does the NGC Pop Report reflect any varieties for the Extra V."... See my/their coin below ∇...

https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/6531239-001/66/...

In late Feb I hit up NGC(Certified Collectables Group)and asked/inquired about my/their Extra V 'Label Variety' not reported/missing from their very own census? They said they'll send it right over to NGC census...Crickets...Well two weeks ago I hit them up again with my question "where's the grey variety tab that IDs' the Label Varieties for the V 1C, or any given coin(*or Proof set*)?" Well, a different person(low level rep?)got back with me with a ridiculous/outrageous reply(or a terrible misunderstanding)..I'll try to keep it short--but essentially he denied that NGC even exists in a way?...He said " our census does not keep track of Mint Errors, Varieties, or First/Early Release designations." Lol? And then he said "The other thing would be that First and Early Release designations are not varieties. Varieties are minor defects that come as a result of the minting process"(he then linked me to the Extra V)..I about blew my top!..I replied(in brief)--" I am not talking about a Mint error or minor defects that come as a result of the minting process, not one bit. What I'm talking about is the fact that NGC does indeed recognise First and Early Releases designations as a Variety in the form of a LABEL VARIETY!!..I gave/linked him an example of a 'Label Variety'(one of thousands btw)on his own NGC census page...
I also respectfully said.."It is my belief that the 2023 Extra "V" must have a VARIETIES Tab below it, showing exactly how many First Releases Holders exist within the NGC Database(even if 1)...I then asked of him(in brief) "I'm requesting that the Top Manager within the Grading/Census Dept. to review this Label Variety Recognition issue."
Nothing yet E1...Even if the FR Label was a mistake...Just say something NGC!?

Major D...Regarding your(see photo) First Day of Issue 2015-S 14 Coin Clad Proof Set, Graded Gem Proof by NGC..
There are exactly 262 of your Proof Sets that were graded/Labelled with that Gem Proof designation, and they're PF-70 UC Sets according to the NGC page below!!..
How do I know? Search for any one of the 14 coins(example-Homestead)within your S-Proof set, and you will find that very coin--Along with a grey 'VARIETIES' tab below that said coin...Try it out on another--Check the 2014-S Clad Blue Ridge Quarter--See?

https://www.ngccoin.com/census/united-states/quarters/103/varieties/65709/

Your 262(1) sets are above 'one single Homestead coin' graded PF69 UC in a First Releases Holder!
This is all I ask of NGC regarding my lonely First Releases Extra V coin..We'll see.......
Sorry for the long post.

Nor does the NGC Pop Report reflect any varieties for the Extra V.”… See my/their coin below ∇…

In late Feb I hit up NGC(Certified Collectables Group)and asked/inquired about my/their Extra V ‘Label Variety’ not reported/missing from their very own census? They said they’ll send it right over to NGC census…Crickets…Well two weeks ago I hit them up again with my question “where’s the grey variety tab that IDs’ the Label Varieties for the V 1C, or any given coin(*or Proof set*)?” Well, a different person(low level rep?)got back with me with a ridiculous/outrageous reply(or a terrible misunderstanding)..I’ll try to keep it short–but essentially he denied that NGC even exists in a way?…He said ” our census does not keep track of Mint Errors, Varieties, or First/Early Release designations.” Lol? And then he said “The other thing would be that First and Early Release designations are not varieties. Varieties are minor defects that come as a result of the minting process”(he then linked me to the Extra V)..I about blew my top!..I replied(in brief)–“ I am not talking about a Mint error or minor defects that come as a result of the minting process, not one bit. What I’m talking about is the fact that NGC does indeed recognise First and Early Releases designations as a Variety in the form of a LABEL VARIETY!!..I gave/linked him an example of a ‘Label Variety'(one of thousands btw)on his own NGC census page…
I also respectfully said..”It is my belief that the 2023 Extra “V” must have a VARIETIES Tab below it, showing exactly how many First Releases Holders exist within the NGC Database(even if 1)…I then asked of him(in brief) “I’m requesting that the Top Manager within the Grading/Census Dept. to review this Label Variety Recognition issue.”
Nothing yet E1…Even if the FR Label was a mistake…Just say something NGC!?

Major D…Regarding your(see photo) First Day of Issue 2015-S 14 Coin Clad Proof Set, Graded Gem Proof by NGC..
There are exactly 262 of your Proof Sets that were graded/Labelled with that Gem Proof designation, and they’re PF-70 UC Sets according to the NGC page below!!..
How do I know? Search for any one of the 14 coins(example-Homestead)within your S-Proof set, and you will find that very coin–Along with a grey ‘VARIETIES’ tab below that said coin…Try it out on another–Check the 2014-S Clad Blue Ridge Quarter–See?

Your 262(1) sets are above ‘one single Homestead coin’ graded PF69 UC in a First Releases Holder!
This is all I ask of NGC regarding my lonely First Releases Extra V coin..We’ll see…….
Sorry for the long post.
